Did Sterling play for the kids yesterday or was he on the bench?  Disappointed not to see him today.

Perch should have been sent off as well for that.

You don't need to be that club. Alan Pardew has built a fantastic side with less money than we've paid for Stewart Downing. You can get quality players for affordable prices, you don't need to sign players for £20m-£60m to create a winning side, a side that challenges for honours. You need to sign the right players, that's the difference.

People often forget that its one thing to be signed by Newcastle and then get in a mid-table team and bed in without pressure.

Its a whole different thing to be signed by a club with the profile of LFC, as we are already seeing with Carroll, Downing, Hendo and Adams...

Pepe had to go but Perch should have gone for that, frigging pathetic

Newcastle supporters are just as demanding of their players as we are at Liverpool. No player walking into Newcastle is given an easy ride, the same as here. Players, no matter who they are, or where they are from should relish signing for clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and the other big teams in Europe. If players are actually frightened of signing for such clubs with huge weights of expectations then the simple solution is not to sign for clubs like that.

The reason Carroll, Downing, Henderson and Adam have struggled is because they are not good enough/struggling for form. It's down to individual opinion on which option you think it is, but I believe that none of the British lads we've brought in bar Craig Bellamy are good enough to be playing for teams with aspirations of top four finishes, title challenges and League trophy wins.

That really is a pathetic excuse. Why do we spend 100 mill on players that cant handle a bit of pressure?
Our biggest problem isnt a single player, its a complete lack of teamwork. We dont know what to do when we attack, we have no plan b when things are not working. We dont respond at all to the changes the opposition team does.

It's the lack of mid-game changes, which is Kenny's biggest failing. The other managers are running rings around him and he seems oblivious to it

Its not an excuse but a statement of fact made in response to the post on Newcastle's success with their signings. Its easier, far easier to bed in at a Newcastle FC than it is in LFC or Arsenal.

The poor performance of the team is another matter altogether.

Our problems for all the focus on the attacking players, is in the non possession phase.

Here we are nominally set up in a 4-3-3. The defacto set up is another story.

However u cannot set up this way and not press the ball as a unit. We show high pressing and then back off. We have three fwds and they are not involved enough in the non possession phase. Then we have three CMs who are not pressing simultaneously as the front trio, and our defence meanwhile is sitting a little deep, with only the inexperienced Spearing as the nearest thing to a specialist DM.

It seems we cannot seem to decide whether to press fully, push the defensive line higher, or to truly sit deep and counter. The result is we are in a tactical no man's land- between and betwixt....Thus we have all manner of teams able to move the ball on us in midfield.

If u have three forwards upfront and three CMs u are playing a 4-3-3. Without aggressive play in winning the ball, in movement and passing u have made nonesense of the formation...

Does Pepe's suspension include the game against Everton as well?

Arsenal just lost several of their key players this season and didnt manage to sign any replacements until the end of the transfer window. Still they play a lot better than us this season. Even their untested 18-19 year olds look more up for it than our players.

Its not the pressure thats killing our players, its sadly a lack of good coaching.

Arsenal are very fortunate to have a top class striker in RVP in their side. Take him away and Arsenal would be in a worse situation than us.

I'm watching Tottenham vs Swansea and Scott Parker is the type of midfielder that we should have gone for in the summer to accomodate Meireles and Aquilani, not Charlie Adam. Ian Holloway would have been closer to the mark had he compared Parker to Alonso, instead of Adam.

I never said that pressure on the players is the only reason for their performance. I said it is a factor in why a new player can settle in faster in Newcastle than is the case in LFC, even while accounting for individual differences...

Our primRY problem IMO as I stated above is the lack of clarity about our tactical organization...

On the contrary Arsenal have a crystal clear idea how they want to pla...

Well, right players with right attitude still needs money... unless all our reserve players suddenly become good...

But we're a laughing stock already, spending money left right and centre, its embarressing, obviously more money isnt the answer unless we have the right structure in place

Newcastle were a laughing stock just a season ago. Things can change quickly.

Unfortunately, seeing that we seem to be stuck repeating the same mistakes, I guess it'll be a work in progress for us for a while to come.

The same Scott Parker failed miserably at Chelsea. Bellamy failed to settle in his first stint at LFC.

But see what time and experience has done to them....
