Another cup competition which I hope we win, to add some gloss to our season. We have already beaten Brighton 2-1 in an away game in the League Cup, and as this game is at Anfield, I am expecting a win as well, with the home crowd behind the players.

Liverpool
I would really like to see Aurelio play this game, as well as Flanagan and Carroll. Coates and Kelly should be given a chance to play together. They could be the partnership of the future in central defense possibly? Probably a starting line-up of:

---------------Reina

Flanagan--Kelly--Coates--Enrique

Kuyt---Gerrard--Shelvey--Aurelio

---------Carroll--Suarez

subs: Doni, Carra, Agger, Spearing, Sterling, Bellamy and Maxi

Brighton
Brighton's star player is probably Craig Mackail-Smith, who is not only their top scorer, but also made the most assists.
They actually do have a few familiar faces in the form of Vicente, former Valencia winger, and Alan Navarro, who used to play for us.
They aren't a team to be underestimated though, having beaten Newcastle 1-0 in the previous round.

Random Facts
Everton is the club which we have played most in this competition, winning 9 of the 16 fixtures in the process.
The last 2 Finals which we participated in were The Gerrard Cup Final, and The Owen Cup Final. Who will steal the show should we progress that far?
We have won the FA Cup 7 times, and Runners-up 6 times.
We have scored a total of 676 goals in this competition.

Other Fixtures
Chelsea VS Birmingham City
Everton VS Blackpool
Norwich VS Leicester City
Millwall VS Bolton Wanderers
Sunderland VS Arsenal
Crawley VS Stoke City
Stevenage VS Tottenham Hotspur

I say play the strongest eleven and get a good result.

I would love to see us do the domestic cup double!

Nice to see someone putting the effort when starting a math thread.
Regarding the game, I think we should rest most of our big game players and perhaps give the likes of Kelly, Carragher, Aurelio, Maxi, Downing & Carroll the chance to get needed/deserved minutes on the pitch.

I'd go with this:

                   Reina

Kelly       Carra       Coates       Aurelio

          Spearing     Henderson
Maxi                                     Downing

           Suarez        Carroll

Bench: Doni, Skrtel, Flanagan, Shelvey, Gerrard, Bellamy, Kuyt

The only 3 from that lineup who imo should feature in the final are Reina, Spearing and Suarez.

Should be a comfortable win for us but we definitely need to keep everyone focused on the job especially after all thats gone wrong in the last week or so.

Two massive cup games in two weeks, good times after the awful events that have been plaguing us recently.  Can say this one isn't massive but for me it is, we have to put in a big performance ahead of the final to get spirits up and have everyone in the right frame of mind after the sh!te we've had to deal with recently.  I'm expecting Luis to start along with Andy, probably Downing to get his confidence up and Enrique/Glen to be rested for sure.  Ace's lineup looks pretty much spot on for the most part.  No telling who Kenny will actually send out but looks like a good lineup.

same but I'm starting to fear that with Suarez on the pitch some contraversy is always liable to appear!  :D

I'm kind of expecting a routine win tbh, we shouldn't be struggling against these at home, so long as the lads take it seriously anyway we should be fine. I'll be on a train so I won' be catching this  :(

Someone made a comment a while back about putting Johnson in the right wing position and Kelly behind him....I would personally like to see how that works out. I think that Kuyt has had his day, he is a yard slower at least than he was last year and given that is his biggest strength we'll only get diminishing returns there.

For me this is the perfect game for Suarez to shrug off this recent spotlight on him for the wrong reasons. Brighton boss Poyet is nothing but a fan of Suarez and as such he will not receive a better welcome from an away team manager than this weekend.

i have posted about this before some years ago. this is a danger game due to their team starting with "B"
A very old guy told me about this on the Kop oneday and all the other old guy (all over 70) agreed with him.
something to do with our history that we find it hard to beat teams that start with "b" lol

I'd just play our strongest team and get the job done here, it's not like we've had a midweek European game like some of the other teams playing this weekend.

                                 Reina

Johnson            Skrtel             Agger            Enrique

                      Gerrard           Adam

Bellamy                       Suarez                      Maxi

                                Carroll

2-0 comfortably I reckon.
