we take on Newcastle at home in a tricky fixture. a win would see us apply further pressure on Spurs and City for 4th spot while a Newcastle win would see them enhance their grip on a top 10 finish.

LATEST INJURY NEWS
Liverpool - Johnson, Agger, Kelly and Gerrard are out while Carroll is doubtful.

Newcastle - Harper, Smith, Guthrie, Gosling, Ireland, Leon Best and Lua Lua are injured while Ben Arfa is due to return on 1st May so he could make the bench. Nolan is a slight doubt.

PAST RESULTS
11/12/10, 18:30 Newcastle - Liverpool 3 : 1
03/05/09, 14:30 Liverpool - Newcastle 3 : 0
28/12/08, 13:00 Newcastle - Liverpool 1 : 5
08/03/08, 16:00 Liverpool - Newcastle 3 : 0
24/11/07, 13:45 Newcastle - Liverpool 0 : 3
10/02/07, 16:00 Newcastle - Liverpool 2 : 1
20/09/06, 21:00 Liverpool - Newcastle 2 : 0
19/03/06, 14:30 Newcastle - Liverpool 1 : 3
26/12/05, 16:00 Liverpool - Newcastle 2 : 0
05/03/05, 16:00 Newcastle - Liverpool 1 : 0
19/12/04, 14:30 Liverpool - Newcastle 3 : 1

we've not lost to them at home for years now and the past 2 meetings at home has been 3:0 while the previous  two before before that were 2:0. if this trend continues, this week's result would be 4:0 :D

STATISTICS
Newcastle - Kevin Nolan is their top scorer with 12 goals followed by the injured Leon Best with 6. Joey Barton, with 4 goals and 7 assists is the man to watch. off the bench, Newcastle has this player called Nile Ranger who gave us problems on the flanks when he played against us earlier this season. hopefully the fullbacks can contain him as he's really fast and has a few tricks up his sleeve.

Liverpool - Dirk Kuyt is our top scorer with 11 goals followed by (surprise surprise) Rodriguez with 6. Kuyt also has 6 assists to his name followed by Meireles with 5. the key question on most Liverpool fans would be if Carroll is playing. he was left out in the last game as he suffered a knock to the knee but he should be fit by the first Saturday of next month.

KEY BATTLE
i reckon the game would be won in midfield. Barton, Tiote and Nolan against Meireles, Lucas and Spearing. this isn't gonna be a walkover like the previous game against Birmingham but as i am your match thread hero, you should approach this game with confidence :D Newcastle's defense though, is pretty weak so i won't be surprised if Suarez dribbles his way past 2 or 3 players before scoring.

SQUADS
Liverpool - Reina, Gulasci, Carragher, Skrtel, Kyrgiakos, Wilson, Flanagan, Robinson, Spearing, Shelvey, Lucas, Poulson, Meireles, Maxi, Cole, Ince, Jovanovic, Kuyt, Suarez, Carroll and Ngog.

Newcastle - Krul, Soderberg, Simpson, Williamson, Coloccini, Enrique, Barton, Tiote, Nolan, Gutierrez, Ameobi, Ranger, Ben Arfa, Lovenkrands and Kuqi.

uh oh, Maxi's letting it get to his head :D

These days I'm confident of us playing every fooker off the park at Anfield. 4:1 this time round :)

I'd like to see Suarez get one, I know he's got a lot more to his game than just goals but he deserves it. Carroll to get one against these as well, the amount of stick they've gave him up here, I'd love him to shut them up with a couple

If Newcastle play like thay did against Blackpool then it could be double figures.. I'd be happy with another 5-0 win

I've been thinking about this since we smashed Birmingham.

How many of you think Carroll could have played yesterday, but decided not to because he knew he could milk this injury past the Newcastle game?  He's a huge Newcastle fan and that's where he wanted to play, so I could see him just feeling that he isn't ready to play against his old club yet.

Newcastle are very inconsistent, but they win away from home as much as they do at home, so it's kind of dangerous to assume their away form is bad.  They tend to play well against the top clubs, so I could see this one close, but I'm gonna say 3-1 reversal in our favor this time around.
