That was actually exactly what I expecting except I thought Kuyt might be somewhere in the mix and Spearing would sit.

Good lineup. Nice to see Aqua and Aurelio in there. At this point in time Aurelio is our best LB so I hope he can start against SUnderland.

Henderson, Adam and Aquilani should be doing their best in this game to try and command a starting role since they all (+Meireles and +Gerrard when they return) seem to competing for the two midfield spots (alongside Lucas)... Will be interesting to see how they do individually and Adam-Aquilani as a partnership in the middle

Isnt it curious how the most exciting player in the lineup and the player that most fans are seemingly backing to control our midfield is also the one most likely to leave the club before the season starts ?

I cant remember Aquilani disappointing much overall in the few games hes played for us.. His stats are definitely positive to say the least... Good to see him getting his chance -even if its just preseason- and will be interesting to see whether him performing admirably in this game would affect Kennys decision of letting him go ...

Imo, if he performs well today then he should get that starting spot in midfield for the Sunderland game...
