Borussia Dortmund v Liverpool - Europa 1st leg - Thur 7 Apr

Biggest game of the season and we must be all in 100% for the win in this against by far the strongest team in the competition

Clyne, Lovren, Moreno, Coutinho & Firmino are all 1 booking away from missing the Europa League 2nd leg against Dortmund so are walking a real tight rope

Firmino is expected to be back for this match according to the Echo which is massive for us, if all our forward players playing at their very best we have 'a chance', but if those at the back have a disaster it could be big trouble for us

It is really important that we grab a goal away there and I am sure JK will have the entire squad pumped for this, let's face it, if you can't get pumped for this match you may as well give up football

It will be emotional, there is a strong bond between the 2 clubs, listening and watching both sets of fans singing YNWA will be emotional

YES.. they may be the best, but lets show them our best, come on Redmen  :buttrock

A clean sheet would be awesome. An away goal could prove useful.
We need to be at our best. Simple.
Let's ROCK!

Carlos Velasco Carballo has been announced as the referee vs Dortmund. 28 games this season, 154 yellow cards and 10 reds he has given out.

Dortmund have been handed a triple injury boost ahead of their tie with Liverpool as Hummels, Sokratis and Gundogan are back training (Echo)

LFC has massive experience and success in Europe and with that comes confidence. United might not be what they used to be but they are not as bad as some people make out especially at the moment. Tactics will be massive. Go all to attack for the first 20 minutes and if we score it will be huge !! No point in sitting back against this lot THEY ARE TOO GOOD  :no

The only problem with this tactic is our goalscoring prowess...
If we don't score, they can pick us off on the counter and that wouldn't be too difficult.
I'd rather see us keep it tight for the night and bring 'em back to Anfield with all to play for...

LFC as a club has the "massive experience and success in Europe" you rightly point out BUT how many of the current squad possess that vaunted "experience and success" ?

It's not just a new page or even chapter in our history , it's a whole new book ! We're basically starting all over again.

Fingers crossed our new manager has enough about him to inspire the lads to come up with a result   :buttrock

Dortmund are a top side but we need to remember that we are big hitters ourselves, in fact we have probably spent more money in one summer than Dortmund have in 10 years! We certainly aren't David going up against Goliath.
Plus we have beaten the likes of Chelsea, City (x2), United and probable champions Leicester this season as well so we are no mugs.

Dortmund are the most talented team we will meet this season ,I'll be massively surprised and delighted if we don't lose twice they are out of out our league...On the other hand if someone can beat them it's Klopp...

The press this morning saying Firmino is out of the match tomorrow, not sure what to believe any more, guess we will find out tomorrow, will be a massive blow if he is out

They are saying he will have a late fitness test tonight to prove if he can play or not

That will be a big blow because atm Sturridge doesn't look at the races, he seems well off the pace.
I'd actually be tempted to start with Origi instead, at least he will graft his @rse off and make life difficult for the Dortmund back 4 where as Danny only seems to come alive when there's a chance of a goal.
Our job tomorrow is to stay in the tie and to do that we need everyone to roll their sleeves up and put in a shift.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking Woof. This "massive experience and success" only really exists in us, the fans, since we are the only aspect of the club which is still there from the more successful times.
New players, new manager, new owners, new staff. The experience and successes from the past is a more than a little bit irrelevant, which is especially evident in our recent up-and-down form.
But they're still The Redmen. OUR Redmen.
C'mon The Redmen, give us something to be smug and complacent about tomorrow night!   :D

If The Mirror is to be believed, Firmino has given Liverpool a major boost after coming through a fitness test this morning  :bowdown

Confirmed squad for the Dortmund match...

Mignolet, Ward, Clyne, Lovren, Skrtel, Toure, Sakho, Moreno, Smith, Can, Henderson, Allen, Milner, Lallana, Coutinho, Ibe, Ojo, Firmino, Sturridge, Origi.

Now we have a confirmed squad, I think it's fair it to say the starting 11 picks itself, If we are going with both Firmino and Sturridge to start who should be left out??
