Sky Italia reporting that Liverpool are not only interested in Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero, but have now made him a contract offer.

he's 37 years old though. how much of a contribution would he be able to make, despite his enormous talent? the interwebs seem to suggest he's off to sydney too.

Expect Spurs to come in with a bid anytime soon.

He ain't no spring chicken but neither was Gary mac when he came in..... However I thought he was more in the Suarez mode as a forward rather than an out and out finisher which is what we really need.

All in all I would be pleased to see him here.

He may be 37 but he made 28 appearances for the Italian champions last year and 45 the season before that. Must be in pretty decent condition to do that.

Considering a stop gap is what we can get right now, I don't see anything wrong with bringing in Del Piero.  Also factor in that Borini probably idolizes the guy.  Could be a good signing not only for what he may bring on the pitch, but also as a mentor role to our younger attackers.

I hope it's a joke ,really bringing players out of retirement ,no matter how huge they were ,is pretty pathetic.
Not to mention he isn't really a striker but more of attacking midfielder...

Would be a decent signing for us, but he's less prolific than Suarez, and about as prolific as Carroll.  Maybe if we play him in the proper role he could score some goals, but somebody who struggles to score isn't exactly what we need.

With that said, I'd be pleased if we signed him because we could use his help right now.

The Sydney FC Chief Exec has said we have entered the race for
Del Piero after they thought they had the deal almost over the line.
