Liverpool Complete £20m Serie A Youngster Signing

Uruguayan playmaker on his way to Anfield?
GASTON Ramirez has achieved his goal of securing a move to a “big club” this summer, with Liverpool reportedly signing the Uruguay international for £20 million.
Although the young player has revealed he would have had no problem remaining at Bologna for another season, the 21-year-old has voiced his enthusiasm to move to one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

SOURCE: Daily Express

So this source believes Liverpool have already done the deal to capture Gaston Ramirez and given that the Uruguayan would be joining a host of his countrymen at Anfield such a move sounds very plausible.
The talented young attacking midfielder has enjoyed two solid seasons in Italy with Bologna and has been linked with a move to Anfield for a number of months. New boss Brendan Rodgers will no doubt be keen on strengthening a squad that completed Liverpool’s worst top tier finish in over 60 years last term and bringing in a creative talent who can help provide ammunition for the likes of Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll would be very high on his list of priorities.
Liverpool’s American owners handed Kenny Dalglish £120m to invest in new players and didn’t see much in the way of success from their outlay and will hope that Rodgers manages his transfer funds more wisely.
Dalglish invested in a number of players who should have helped provide a cutting edge in the final third but the likes of Charlie Adam and Stewart Downing failed to make an impact and therefore Rodgers had to decide whether the players he currently possesses are up for the task or whether new recruits are needed. This source would appear to suggest that he is more than willing to pay big sums to rectify the mistakes made last term.
Ramirez would join national team-mates Suarez and youngster Sebastian Coates at the Merseyside club.

I hope this rumour is true and i think it is. Weve been linked with the lad for a while and it comes when it looks as if Sigurdsson will be joining spurs. Also there wasnt any noise of us raising up our bid or wages to get Gylfi.

We will find out within 24 hours me thinks

Thing is, Sigurddson looks a far more accomplished player from what I've seen and at a snip of the price.  Even in his you tube highlights (which make players look better than they are) Ramirez loses the ball quite a lot and his touch appears heavy at times

not seen this on any of the big forums but my friend who watches a lot of Italian football said we are signing a good player but paying over the odds for what is reported.

Gaston Ramirez's agent arrives in England for Liverpool talks
Liverpool have moved a step closer to landing Bologna winger Gaston Ramirez after his agent arrived in England for talks.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is desperate to add some much needed width to his new-look team next season, and has turned to Ramirez after baulking at Fulham's £10 million asking price for Clint Dempsey.
A fast, agile and elegant left winger who can play up front, Ramirez is rated as one of the finest players in Italy, and has been tracked by Barcelona, AC Milan and the two Manchester clubs in the last six months.
However, it appears that Liverpool, who held initial talks over a deal with Bologna last month, have jumped the queue, with the players agent arriving in England this week to sort out a transfer to the Premier League:
'Gaston is ready to leave Italy - so much so I am in England for talks with a Premier League club,' agent Pablo Betancourt told Mercato.
'He is one of the most important players in Uruguray, so there are no shortage of offers.'
Inter Milan and Tottenham are two other clubs believed to have significant interest in Ramirez, but neither are willing to stump up the £15 million Bologna want for the 21-year-old.
That clears the way for Liverpool to get their man, and they are hopeful they land the player in the next fortnight, despite the transfer being complicated, as Ramirez will be on duty for Uruguay during the London Olympics.
The former Penarol ace, who is contracted to Bologna until 2016, has already set his heart on a move to Anfield.
