If this deal goes through than it is a clever one and I would certainly welcome him back. Take age out of context, if you see how carragher has had such an influence on the likes of Robinson, flanaghan, and Kelly; then think what friedel could do with the development of our young goalkeepers that need the exact motivation. This signing would also keep Reina on his toes too, as well as perhaps cement a potential goalkeeping coach role for long term.

So why did we buy that other keeper that everyone hates just a few months back ffs?

We have made some sh!tty buys in the past 12 months and heads should roll.

The australian keeper... so far all of Roy's buys except Meriles have been total failures...

Bought Konchesky and loaned out Insua... wtf???
Bought Poulsen... wtf???
Singed Cole... seemed like a good idea but now he seems to be following Harry Kewell's path...
Bought the australian keeper and sold the brazilian keeper... wtf???

Assume then Brad Jones will be off - seems like a top bloke , they had a charity event recently, his son isn't all that well, he came across pretty well I thought.

Whether we should have signed him is another matter, hopefully we can get a fee for him.

With Friedel's age I can only assume if he signs we have offered him some sort of coaching role too.

He is getting on, so maybe a coaching role could tempt him, but the fact is he is still one of the best keepers in the league. I believe he'll be 1st choice at Villa next season.
