Mr. beckford

watched him now for a couple of seasons and he impresses me. Look at the 2 FA cup games, he's scored 3 goals n 2 games against premier league oppo, including 1 against the mancs, ,playing in a league one team (albiet a good league one team). Now Leeds are better than league one but not premier league quality.

so, Beckford is 'out of contract' in the summer but would only cost us £2.5m now and we'd have a great player who might only get better by playing in a better team against better oppo week in week out.

thoughts?

Not for me. Watched him against Man Utd and Spurs and he looks like a typical lower league player. He might have an impact at a team fighting relegation but would struggle in a top 10 premiership team.

My thoughts exactly, I mean I know were skint but ffs.
Hopefully we can offload Bable and use the cash to get someone decent.

and a fair suggestion Lee - the clubs in teh worst trouble we've been in for many years and how dowe react in teh transfer window? we buy no one and take a lad on a free. The last player we paid money for was a one million pound Greek. Beggars cant be choosers, if he's cheap Rafa will be interested.

It's a def no and shouldn't even be considered.

I live in Leeds and go to Elland Rd quite alot with friends (cheap tickets) if you ever watched him live he refuses to defend and will stand on the half way line until Leeds get the ball back and won't close defenders down either!!!

Alot of the Leeds supporters actually casll him 'Tommy Gun' as he can have 300 shots and only a couple will get near the target!!!!

Bottom line is he's Championship level at best!!!!

Ebanks blake was tearing up the championship , top scorer i believe but he's only got 1 goal all season and that was from the pen spot against villa , i know its just a suggestion mate but some players are better of playing at the level they are currently in

aye, I agree, I was just looking at players who wouldn't cost a fortune and could turn it on. think Keegan. played at a small club then moved to liverpool and became a legend. Not saying beckford is another keegan but  you get me drift.

Beckford's a good player where he is. He's 26 and IMO it's a bit late for him to be jumping to a much higher level

Simon Cox, 15 games 7 goals for WBA this year, 35 in 62 for swindon last year, young, english, looks better than N'gog, cheap.

I would worry if Liverpool were getting to the point where they were signing League One forwards and I dont think Beckford is good enough to play for us. Everton seem to be desperate to sign Beckford and i think they may be even too high standard for him - i cant see him performing at a level about the Championship. So for Liverpool to even consider Beckford would be ludicrous IMO.

dont think so mate.
he handled himself well again the manks and spurs and delivered the goods.he has a good scoring record even if it is in the lower leagues.
2.5 mil (although i would think by the end of the season that will b 5) on beckford is nothing.its a gamble is what it is and one that imo could pay off and if he scored 5 between now and the end of the season in the top flight then it would be justified.
if it doesent im pretty sure you would recoup the signing fee back and in our case we prob wouldnt pay up front anyway.

at the end of the day what can we expect with no money,2.5 mil and decent have been long erased in football.

we could always keep it? or throw another 1.5 at it and sign a 32yr old washed up defender or winger and give him one last big fat paycheck!!! ??? ..
personally id gamble on jermain man!!! :)
