So I think with the next signing we make, the name will only appear in the media shortly before it happens just like Fabinho, Jota, etc. Although the one that might have legs is Raphinha as some of the noise is apparently coming from local journalists in Leeds.

Not always, Van Dyke was known, also Konate and Keita were also reported for a while before we bought them. Generally speaking you are right though, it’s a lot of click bait for fans hungry for news. Still, out of five players reported, we will bid on the one so it’s about wading through the sh1t to see where the club’s head is at. Whoever it is, I trust Klopp’s eye since his record has been excellent, and he tends to make the right kind of player (the hard working non prima donnas) much better.

The difference with van Djik, Konate and Keita is that interest was being reported by reputable journalists who actually report on the club (James Pearce, Melissa Ready, Neil Jones, etc).

Not much too be honest. That's why it wouldn't surprise me if our next deal is out of the blue. Truth is after the van Djik debacle the club give very little to the UK journalists they work with. Either it's an outright denial around a player (Pepe) or vague interest in someone we have scouted but isn't a main target (Sarr). Even last year they were all reporting that we wouldn't buy Thiago unless Gini left. Stories that have legs normally breakout in the home country the player is from or is playing in.

Too be honest I think we might see 1 more signing this off season. I mean real signings, not small one less than 10 million.

We don't need a whole load of signings really. Definitely think we'll try and make another Jota level signing with Origi, Shaq and even Taki probably looking to move on. And even though we have quite a few midfielders wouldn't be surprised if we bring in another who can compete for first team minutes.

Did you see this - no smoke without fire surely?

'Neco Williams is a wanted man with Southampton, Burnley, Norwich City, Swansea City and Cardiff City among those contemplating an attempt to prise him away from Liverpool this summer.'

Don't know how much to read into this but Patson Daka has just started following Liverpool on Instagram.

From the Echo and it makes sense

Liverpool already have clear conditions for record-breaking transfer swoop

Liverpool are being linked with transfer moves for both Youri Tielemans and Kalvin Phillips - but Borussia Monchengladbach's Florian Neuhaus could make a lot more sense financially

When Liverpool allowed Gini Wijnaldum to move away from Anfield for free, it would have probably been to Barcelona, rather than PSG, that they might have envisaged him signing for.

Either way, though, the idea that the Dutch midfielder would move to one of Europe's top clubs was entirely predictable, and Liverpool knew for many months, if not longer, that the 30-year-old was moving on.

In that time, their plan for the future without Wijnaldum's inevitable presence in the centre of the pitch will no doubt have been formulated.

Florian Neuhaus was linked with a move over the weekend and it is believed that he is of interest, with Liverpool having scouted him at Borussia Monchengladbach.

Leicester and Belgium star Youri Tielemans, 24, has also been linked with a move, and Kalvin Phillips' exceptional performance for England in their win over Croatia reignited speculation surrounding the Leeds United man.

Neuhaus, though, seems the most likely of the players to make a move to Liverpool - with his valuation likely to be around half that of those midfielders plying their trade in the Premier League.

"I just think that Phillips, Tielemans and those types of players are maybe past the point of Liverpool being interested in them," said Joe Rimmer on the latest Blood Red podcast.

"They are not like a Van Dijk or an Alisson where Liverpool would break their transfer structure to go out and buy them - they are not world-class.

"They would be too expensive to buy because I think Liverpool are not going to go out and spend £70m, or maybe £50-60m, on a Tielemans or Phillips.

"Liverpool are much more likely to go for a player like Neuhaus who is a little bit cheaper and who is someone Liverpool could develop to that top level.

"Premier League players make a lot of sense in that they need little time to adapt, but I think Liverpool will cast the net a little bit wider."

Liverpool say they are not necessarily prioritising a midfield signing this summer, but if they do, it is highly unlikely to be at a cost of what Leeds would ask for Phillips or Leicester for Tielemans.

A move of £50m - should that even be enough to prise either from their current clubs, which is possibly improbable - would place the player behind only Van Dijk, Alisson and Naby Keita as Liverpool's most expensive signing ever.

In reality, £50m would be a conservative estimate of how much each player's club would demand.

Leeds are in a strong financial position and Leicester got around £80m from Manchester United for Harry Maguire just under two years ago.

If Liverpool are to spend £60-70m or more on one player, and they have done that in the past under FSG, then it has got to be a real game-changer - a transformational addition.

Dejan Lovren to Van Dijk, or Loris Karius to Alisson, was rightly deemed a major investment worth making. Keita, too, would have added that sort of value after his £52m move had he been able to stay fit.

But whether moving for Tielemans or Phillips to replace Wijnaldum is a similar sort of shift in quality is a question with a fairly simple answer.

Strong rumours that Rafa is about to be announced as Everton manager. Good luck to him if he does end up there, he owes this club nothing, he gave us 6 years of fantastic service and even put his job on the line to warn the fans that the new owners were a pair of carpet baggers. Most managers would have kept their mouths shut and just took the wages but Rafa loved the club too much. He’s a great man and I genuinely hope he does well there, not as well as us obviously!

Rafa's biggest achievement would be to bring both sets of fans closer together. He has the character and respect to do that. The animosity that's grown over the years and exacerbated after that terrible game at the beginning of last season and which Ancelotti did nothing to address (head in the sand) means that only a special person can be effective in returning both clubs to a normal relationship. I welcome it. Rafa is the man.  Feck the football, they'll always be sh!te.
