I wouldn't say we've missed him but obviously having a player like that in our attack would take us on another level.

A great player as I said but we are better defensively without him, he never really tracked back. Also for that money I would rather a player that showed up every match as he did go missing sometimes. I think it is irrelevant anyway as there is no way we would buy him again. Just my opinion!

He would have to play from the left in the "half space" that Keita has occupied in the last couple of games. But I can't see him coming back in any case. He's playing enough at Barcelona and we've moved on.

Not denying the fella's ability BUT looking at where we are now I have to ask

As a team have we missed him ?

I think we have, we are definitely not as creative as we once where, I like Shaquiri and he is doing a decent job but he is no Phil. Just because we are doing well atm doesn't mean we are the finished article or we can't improve. Infact why we were so successful for so long was because we built from a position of strength.

He'd still cost £100m and we wouldn't spend that on a 27 year old anyway.

I agree we need to improve, I would rather someone else and there are other options. It would be interesting to know if Klopp would have bought him from Inter since he does not track back, ie is he a “Klopp player”? I also think it is a sign of a big club not to take players that forced a move away.

It was fun while it lasted but onward and upward. Let him tell his grandkids how they used to sing his name.

I'm not a huge fan of stats in footy, particularly assist stats. An assist just means you were the last player to touch the ball before the goalscorer, quite often the key pass in a move, the one that opened up the defence, occurrs two or three passes earlier.

You could apply that to goals scored too.

I agree that often the key pass is earlier in the move but there is validity in assist stats. Just like the top scorer charts, it's the usual suspects at the top of the assists charts.

To me there's assists and there's assists, someone taking a corner or a free kick is just putting the ball into a dangerous area, what happens then is in the lap of the Gods, to me thats different to someone putting a CF clean through on goal with a Dalglish-esque defence splitting pass.
Having a lot of assists doesn't necessarily mean that you are a creative player. Plus what happens if you are a creative genius but your forwards couldn't hit a cows @rse with a banjo? As I understand it assists only count if the ball goes in the net?
There are too many variables for me to take any notice of assist stats. Goals actually mean something, assist stats are just gimmicky.

Pulisic heavily linked again so much smoke around him I would be surprised if he didn't join us next month or in the Summer.

Pulisic would be a great addition in January- at the moment if we lose Mane or Salah we have a major drop off in quality to fill their shoes. We would struggle to keep up the pace we have.

You can see he's talented but he's only managed 10 league goals in 80 league games for Dortmund. Mane and Salah were more established and a couple of levels above him when we signed them and right now Shaq is probably a better option. But he only turned 20 in September so plenty of time for him to develop. The marketing potential probably makes it worth us paying the premium for him but he'll need time to grow if he comes in Jan or the summer.
