He can be a good striker in a compatible system, but he can never be great. Origi has far more potential to be a great forward than Benteke. And nobody cares that we paid 32 million for him. Unless he somehow scores 14-15 goals from now to end of season, we will never ever re-coup what we paid for him. The best deal is to swap him to a team that can make use of his strengths with someone that fits our system. That may be what's behind this alleged swap with chicharito.

You're correct maguskwt, my mistake! Big Ben won't be a 'great' striker but he could well be a very player in a capable system.
IMO I see no reason why this can't be with LFC

Are you seeing it now? He's now third choice behind Sturridge and origi, once Ings comes back he may as well be 4th.

I see clearly. But what's wrong with him being 3/4 choice?[/quote]
Ok woof, just one more response and then I'll shut it.
To JB: what's wrong with that is, JB, goes back to my first response to your post. Benteke is useless as a sub. Might as well swap him with someone who is proven to be a supersub under Ferguson and also fits better with Klopp's system.

We'll essentially be spending £32m on a super sub though, and if Sturridge stays fit a sub is exactly what he will be. Hernandez is decent but let's face it both United and Madrid have let him go recently and Leverkuson bought him for £7m. Personally I'd rather get as much money as we can for Benteke and spend the money as we see fit.

Anyone know much about Granit Xhaka? There seems to be an article printed every other day about our interest in him

I think of all the players we have been linked with albeit the 'pipe dreams ' Dennis Praet is a young player I would love to have at Liverpool ,we missed out on Erikkson and this lad has all his attributes ,if we're going to get him we need to move quickly. Its been said that Praet was Klopps main January transfer target and the Teixeira farce seen it go tits up. I'm hoping he's back on Klopps radar for the Summer.

He'd be a great signing, he looks an absolute Rolls Royce of a player (and exactly what we need in the middle of the park) but apparently a lot of the petro-dollar clubs are also interested.

Had to go on YouTube to check him out, I know they're only going to show the good bits  :D   but nevertheless he looked very handy indeed, very positive passing and running, always seemed to be looking forward.

Unfortunately it looks like City have targeted him mate, he's quoted in the German press as saying although many clubs are in for him it would be very difficult to turn down Guardiola and City.

Jeezuz ! getting sick of these super rich clubs going after every player of any quality !

Maybe it's time squad level registrations of home grown players was increased therefore limiting the number of foreign players that can be used. Also impose a limit the number of players a club can actually have on their books, along with the number they're allowed to send out on loan.

So that's the end of that then  :D

I hope Klopp's our trump card for some of these

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is interested in taking former Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen from Barcelona. (Express)

Thomas is solid will give us a couple of years. He would be a good addition to the squad.
His time at barca has been plagued with injuries though.
