Funny how quickly you seem to forget that he got us into a cup final when the rest of the team (except for a few penalties) were absolutely shyte

The lad has got his weaknesses but he is nothing like as bad as some of you make out IMHO !!!

In other news Teixeira is going to China about a whooping 50m bid was accepted.

http://www.espnfc.com.au/story/2801047/alex-teixeira-set-to-join-chinese-club-as-shakhtar-agree-fee

I think we dodged another bullet here to be honest.

The guy wants to play in China, he is nothing more than a mercenary that doesn't want to challenge himself at the top level.

Exactly the sort of players we don't NEED at our club.

I'm not so sure he's as eager to play in China as some think, but I agree with you Eds. I was excited about the prospect at first but for 50 million? No thank you...

Teixeria is just being whored out by the people that own him, shame really as seems like a decent lad.

In terms of fees and wages a large chunk of that will go into third party pockets and this is why he didnt come here, another crazy ownership situation with the player having no say in his own future.

Jeez I wish the Chinese feckers would offer 50 million each for Sturridge, Benteke etc... with that kind of swag JK could really build a team.

Bet Sturridge would be terrified to go to China, no patient LFC to put up with his childish attitude......

The Chinese are going to drive up prices for this summer at this rate, which is bad news for us unless they stick in a few bids for some of our deadwood while they're at it.

So much for Teixeira wanting to go to a more prominent league to improve his International chances. His career will go down the spout now. Interesting to see what you might be able to pick him up for in 18 months or so once he realises what he's done.

Can't say I give a stuff about Teixeira now. If this is his motivation then it's a bullet dodged quite frankly. I did have a fear that he'd end up in this league and come back to haunt us, thankfully that's not an issue now either. Onto the next one

50 million euros mate. Which has always been their asking price, 38 million pounds. If we had raised our offer by about 6 million pounds, we would've gotten a very good player. To me he's miles better than Firmino and Benteke, which we have paid 30 and 32 million respectively. Considering what we have paid for them 6 million premium on a player a class above them is not much.
And I don't know why some here fail to understand it is not that he chose the Chinese club over us. we FAILED to match the asking price and his CLUB refused to sell to us. geez!

On what evidence is Teixeira 'miles better' than Firmino or Benteke?

Is it because he's had one and a half good seasons in the Ukrainian league??

He looked a good player from what I saw of him, but would still have been a massive gamble at that price given he was untested in a decent league or at International level.

He'll be regretting that move by tomorrow, if not by teatime tonight.

I doubt he'll regret the move as he knows what he is doing. He was apparently willing to take 45k a week with us which means he could not have been on much. In China he will apparently become the 10th best paid player in the world. Even if he moves there until the summer and then takes a wage cut to come back to Europe it will still be worth it. People can criticise him all they want but if you were in the same situation you'd probably do the same thing. We're talking about astronomical amounts of money. He may even have an informal agreement that allows him to leave in a year. Helps them build the profile of their league, he gets a huge wage for a year and then can go to whoever he wants in Europe.

What kind of gates to these chinese matches get to justify 50m euros? I don't recall seeing Shanghai Rovers on the 50 richest list of clubs? I 'assume' financial fair play applies to them as well?  Haha, silly me, just joking.
