Can't say I've ever heard of him but one or two are saying that he's a german version of Milner, sort of a utility man.

Does anyone know much about him? I know he was part of the Bundesliga winning side at Dortmund, did he play a vital part? What will he bring?

A 27 year old Left Winger (can also play right and some defensive positions), ex Dortmund player.

Looks like Kloppo like many other "new" managers is calling on tried and trusted players from a previous regime.

Have to trust Jurgen on this BUT do wonder (when it comes to wingers) what it says for the future of Lazar Markovic , (currently playing out on loan in Turkey), a player I'm sure would have flourished under Kloppo's guidance .

Always considered him as bang average and calling him the German Milner is about right. All of our wingers are either as good or better than him. We don't need new wingers anyway, we need strengthening elsewhere.

Reports Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp met Red Star Belgrade MF Marko Grujic in Switzerland last week, fee agreed & timing still to be worked out

Reports from Serbia claim that Liverpool have agreed a deal worth around £4.3 million with Red Star Belgrade for midfielder Marko Grujic.

The 19-year-old has emerged as a possible target for the Reds following Jurgen Klopp‘s arrival in October, with Bosnian-Serb assistant Zeljko Buvac believed to have played a key role in identifying his fellow Balkan.

Producing a consistent run of top-level performances in the middle of the park for Red Star, and this has seen the Reds firm up their interest.

That is according to Serbian publication Mondo, who cite reports from Belgrade that claim Liverpool have agreed a deal worth around £4.3 million to sign the Serbia U21s international.

This would see Grujic remain with Red Star for the remainder of the season, with the midfielder keen to secure Champions League qualification for his current club.

For Red Star, this is something of a foregone conclusion, with the Belgrade outfit currently 22 points clear at the top of the Serbian SuperLiga table, and Grujic’s strong, physical performances have been key to their success.

Red Star manager Miodrag Bozovic has alluded to the sale of Grujic as imperative to help his side progress in the future, with a move to Liverpool providing significant financial benefits.

It is, however, important to clarify that these reports are as yet unconfirmed.

Word from widespread English media suggests that a deal is yet to be agreed between the two clubs, with the Liverpool Echo‘s James Pearce claiming that talks are “ongoing.”

“Klopp is a big admirer of Grujic, who is currently weighing up his options, and his progress has also been closely monitored by Reds assistant manager and fellow countryman Zeljko Buvac,” Pearce writes.

“Grujic’s parents have expressed concerns about the manner in which Serbian duo Milan Jovanovic and Lazar Markovic both struggled to adjust to life at Anfield.

“But Liverpool are hoping that the chance to play under Klopp, who has a proven track record of developing exciting young players with potential, will convince him to head for Anfield.”

Grujic would be an shrewd addition to Klopp’s fledgling squad, and while reports closer to home indicate that a deal is yet to be agreed, there is a measure of no smoke without fire with these links.

With Grujic such a left-field target, it is unlikely that these reports are pure fabrication.

4.3 million? Makes all Rodgers buys at 8 million look expensive!

I'm quite excited to see what Klopp can put together. His Dortmund side were excellent and it was built on his solid scouting network - not many of them were established stars before they got to Dortmund. Onwards and upwards  :)

Liverpool's Christian Benteke on Chelsea transfer radar for January as they seek more goals

Former Aston Villa star signed when Brendan Rodgers was still the Reds' manager has struggled to fit in under successor Jurgen Klopp

Chelsea are eyeing up a January move for Liverpool striker Christian Benteke to lift the gloom at Stamford Bridge, writes Steve Bates in the Sunday People.

I understand Belgium international Benteke was a priority target on a list assembled by manager Jose Mourinho before he was sacked by the Blues on Thursday.

And it's also understood the 25-year-old, signed in a £32.5million deal from Aston Villa last summer when Brendan Rodgers was Kop boss, could still be on Chelsea's wish-list now Guus Hiddink has been placed in caretaker charge.

The stand-in Dutch boss has already identified a lack of goals as a major problem for the struggling Premier League champions - and Benteke is seen as a potential solution.

It's unlikely Liverpool would agree to a loan deal, even though with Chelsea languishing at the bottom of the table they are not direct rivals for a top four finish.

But the burly attacker has struggled to adapt to new manager Jurgen Klopp's style of play more than any of the other stars at Anfield and the German boss is unsure whether he's the right fit for Liverpool.

That could lead to a deal being done between the clubs once the window opens in January.

Fellow Belgian Divock Origi and Brazilian Robert Firmino have been preferred to former Aston Villa star Benteke in some matches.

And in the ten games he has played under Klopp, the 25-year-old has scored only three times - ironically including one against Chelsea in the 3-1 win at the Bridge at the end of October.

Benteke was a disappointing performer in the 2-2 draw with West Brom a week ago and in the build-up to Sunday's game at Watford, Klopp hinted the striker is struggling.

"There's a difference between the way we play and Aston Villa play. If as a striker you don't feel confident in the game because you aren't getting enough crosses then you have to move more.

"As a striker you want to play five, six games in a row. At Villa when he was fit he played - but here everything is different."

Klopp conceded there is work to be done to improve Benteke's development but some Kop sources believe he may not have the time or patience to change the striker.

Instead, it's believed, he may sanction offloading him in a bid to fund moves for his own new players.

Just hope we are much more selective about the players we bring in. If the quality required isnt avaliable /attainable,  i rather we bring in no one. We are taking too many chances on players who may turn out good imo and this scattergun appraoch is not getting us anywhere

I'd be happy with 1 or two players who Klopp knows well enough to implement his philosophy. Because our lot are clueless...

Now more than ever we need the defense worked on. We need a better CB than we have, and a defensive midfield that is stronger than an 8 year old girl.
