Injury prone , he's as bad as kewell and not good enough , before he went to chelsea he was a very good player , now on his day he's good at best , doesn't score much , creativity is below par and passing is okay , i'd hope with the money we're getting from the xabi tranfer we'd at least sign a better player

I think that Rafa sees him as a decent gamble for the price. Don't forget he was rated as one of the best English midfielders before he went to Chelsea. They then sat him on the bench and his career dwindled. Since then he's played for a mediocre Newcastle side and an average West Ham. Just because he doesn't play for a huge club doesn't mean we should right him off. Remember Henchoz came to us from a relegated Blackburn and he turned out alright :;):

Anyway, if the ITK chat is right (and it seems to be coming from reliable sources) then we're getting him so at least we have an experienced CM to fill in when Lucas doesn't play. You all love Lucas don't you...? :p

Ok, not sure if this is useful or not

Just got off the phone with my gf (a woodison season ticket holder) and when I went to tell her about Parker she already knew. Her Dad had heard it mentioned by a red at work. I'm not sure how reliable the guy (at her Dad's work, not her Dad!) is but it's interesting it was being mentioned this afternoon when it only hit here this evening.

To be perfectly honest I cant think of single player who can replace Alonso, he really is that good. If we get Parker for under 5Mil it will be a good piece of business, he isn’t a bad player at all although he will not be blowing us away with his performances. It would mean though we would probably have £20 mil to spend elsewhere.

Totally agree, could've gone on and been the lynchpin in a developing England side , was brilliant at Charlton the move to Chelsea derailed his career .

If he can learn spanish and recaptue his Charlton form we'll all be sayin' "Xabi que ?"

:D
