so lucas would be cover for cover ? cant see Rafa getting in Parker for any reason mate - Lucas last season was starting to show he was decent cover despite the odd mistake and Parker isnt good enough to improve our first 11 so cant see why he would be bought .

Parker would be the third option as cover, Lucas as fourth or whenever suitably required. I don't have enough faith in Lucas to consider him a solid replacement for Masch or Alonso, but with Parker I would. Opinions...I know, but at the very least Lucas is still raw, whereas Parker's tried and tested. £3-4m is a snip for someone who would most certainly shore up our midfield cover. If he was to cost £8m, well that's a different story...
Obviously if you really rate Lucas etc.. then you're probably going to disagree.

dont really rate lucas very highly yet - think he has good potentital that needs too be developed and needs experience to help him and would need to play games to get that mate with parker there he wouldnt get games as parker would play instead and that to me is just wasting talent that we have - lucas never let us down last season and will get better - if we didnt have lucas then yeah would agree get parker

Spot on.

It's hard to disagree with that.

Also West Ham bought him for 7 million two seasons ago and was his player of the season last year so how can they sell him for 3-4 million ?!

im sure we never lost a game with lucas starting including when he started against the mancs and was very very good against newcastle - ok he gave away a penalty against wigan which was prob his one big mistake but which player last season didnt have a mistake ?

Off the top of my head...Wigan away, Stoke away, Fulham home, Chelsea UCL 1st leg. Rarely did he make you sit up and take note is my point. He's certainly improved since the days of Inter away but I'm still not convinced. I'm sure he'll do a job from time to time but I still dread one of his horror performances, and that's not such a risk inherent in someone like Parker.

Horror performances ? what did horror mistakes did he do against stoke or fulham or chelsea ?

Put simply he was totally and utterly dominated by the opposing midfields.

he wasnt the only player that day mate - gerrard was totally nulified so was the rest of the team yet the mancs didnt nulify lucas

anyway this has digressed into the lucas thread so guess we will agree to disgagree mate

Well he obviously wasn't the only player playing that day, nor was he the only player who didn't perform to standard, but he was particularly bad and that matters more given the position he occupies. In the three or four games I mentioned, we lost control of the midfield and when we lose control of the midfield (as with most other teams, but particularly so with us), the whole team suffers badly. Before the almost inevitable, 'but he wasn't the only midfielder playing that day...' comes, I'm not saying he was, but he was particularly bad and when the midfield doesn't function you can't play your game.

like i said we will just agree to disagree mate - imo there was many other factors we didnt win those games and the main one wasnt lucas
