A worthless article from The Telegraph hence it lives in the Rumour Mill, but it least it throws some unknown names into the arena to counter the 500 other unknowns that Joe Terp does know !
++

Who is the most effective striker in the world? Ruud van Nistelrooy, Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o?

None of these three would even make the top ten, according to www.imscouting.com. The website has analyzed data from a total of 28 leagues around the world to produce a list of strikers who create or score the most goals per minute.

They have come to an average for each player by taking the number of minutes played (a player has to have appeared for at least 450 minutes in the season to qualify) and dividing that figure by their tally of goals and assists.

And there’s room for quite a few surprising names…plus Milan Baros…

1. Seydou Doumbia (Ivory Coast, 21, Young Boys) : 12 goals, 5 assists in 635 mins (average : 37,35)

2. Marc Janko (Austria, 25, Salzburg) : 33 goals, 4 assists in 1895 mins (average: 51,22)

3. Nicolas Frutos (Argentina, 27, Anderlecht) : 6 goals, 4 assists in 559 mins (av. : 55,90)

4. Vedad Ibisevic (Bosnia, 24, Hoffenheim) : 18 goals, 6 assists in 1467 mins (av. : 61,13)

5. Grafite (Brazil, 29, Wolfsburg): 18 goals, 3 assists in 1316 mins (av. : 62,67)

6. Scott Chipperfield (Austria, 33, Basle) : 10 goals, 3 assists in 906 mins (av. : 69,69)

7. Dragan Jelic (Slovenia, 23, Maribor) : 6 goals, 1 assist in 498 mins (av. : 71,14)

8. Milan Baros (Czech, 27, Galatasaray) : 17 goals, 4 assists in 1498 mins (av. : 71,33)

9. Erwin Hoffer (Austria, 21, Rapid Vienna) : 19 goals, 4 assists in 1673 mins (av. : 72,74)

10. Ari (Brazil, 23, AZ Alkmaar) : 9 goals, 4 assists in 957 mins (av. : 73,62)

It's an interesting post. Yet another example of how stats may not grasp reality. If your variables do not take into consideration the kind of opposition you have, then you have that list.

if you were going to make a list that was totally 100% based on numbers than UEFA league rankings should be factored in as well as factoring in how many goals per game are averaged in the league (or by each individual team that player plays against)

Absolute :censored: that list is, everyone can except the fact that torres is probably the worlds best striker because of his attitude and ability.
