Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez will hope to snap up Galatasaray winger Arda Turan after the Turkey midfielder revealed he wants to move to Anfield.

The 22-year-old is reported to be a target of Arsenal but is only interested in one Premier League team.

He said: 'When I've finished my business at Galatasaray, I will be happy to move on.

'I most want to play at Liverpool because of the culture of the club and the fans.'

Benitez will offload at least three players to fund the £10m move for Turan, with Ryan Babel, Andrea Dossena and Andriy Voronin all set to be shown the exit door next month.

Turan has scored 55 League goals in 88 appearances for Galatasaray and has five in 34 starts for Turkey.

Modric took about a season to settle in and even than he's lightweight and there are games where he's pushed off and totally out of it. Yossi now , he's been in the prem for what about 5 years , he's gotten used to it but turan might be a bit of a gamble and gambles are something we can't afford in our current predicament

It wasn't that. Ramos was playing him out of his natural position so he found it hard to adjust.

If you are skilfull enough then you will make it. Nearly all the Arsenal team can probably be classed as lightweight and they tend to pass most teams off the pitch.

I know that. :D Just making the point that lightweight doesn't mean you will fail to deliver.

Also I think Messi was told as a kid he is too lightweight to play football. :;): Id be made up to see Arda Turan at Liverpool. Just hope he is a player that Rafa is interested in.

really doubt that!!!
villa is a good player but would cost too much to bring him in compared to turan or indeed chamakh.
money will dictate who will arrive so wouldnt be surprised if we end up with none of the above!!!!

Arda Turan: Liverpool in £13M Babel Swap Deal for Dazzling Turkish Star

According to reports in the Turkish press, Rafa Benitez rejected the recent bid from Birmingham for Ryan Babel as they are in negotiations with Turkish giants Galatasaray for a swap deal plus cash for their captain and star man Arda Turan. The player was widely expected to leave Galatasaray last summer with the club finishing a highly disappointing 5th in the Turkish league, 10 points behind champions Besiktas. However, it would seem this will now be Arda’s last season with the club before moving abroad although Benitez is trying to push through a deal this month as he looks to claw back a Champions League place by the end of the current campaign.

An added bonus for potential suitors of Arda is the player’s versatility as he can play on either flank or even in a more central role. It’s no surprise that Liverpool are so strongly linked to the golden boy of Turkish football as Rafa Benitez has been looking to add some much needed flair to his strong outfit. The injuries to Fernando Torres, Steven Gerrard and Yossi Benayoun have led Liverpool to attempt to push through a deal as soon as possible with the team lacking its most creative and goal scoring talent.

The 22-year-old Galatasaray midfielder enjoyed an excellent season individually last season even though the team ultimately struggled after scoring 7 goals in 29 league appearances (27 starts). In the 2007/08 season he also weighed in with 7 goals in 30 league appearances (29 starts) which led to interest from England, Spain and Italy. As new captain of the side, Arda has scored 4 goals in 16 league appearances this season as the club sit 2nd in the league, 1 point behind leaders Fenerbahce. Arda is a team-mate of former Liverpool star Harry Kewell and reports suggest the Australian has given a glowing report about life at Anfield.
