He's a fantastic player already . VEry skillful , can pick out a pass , good vision , would love him here . TBH , he's the only player i'm afraid of when LFC play chelsea

We so need to buy this guy.... stop all the sh*t with barry maybe he would of been a good player for lfc but its causing far to much sh*t now and at the end of the day its not worth it, specially if alonso turns it on again this year. Silva would bring a new dimension to our team/squad. in rafa we trust tho... just about

Well known Spanish journalist, and good friend to Rafa Benitez, Guillem Balague claims the Gareth Barry saga is not over yet, while Liverpool have not bid for Valencia’s David Silva - but Manchester United have entered discussions about the Spaniard.

Balague discusses the Barry situation with regards Benitez’s tactics next season, writing “Liverpool need to fill a big hole on the left hand side: a hole that Barry could fill.

“In attack, the full backs will take charge of the wing and the players used on the left of midfield will have to use space in the centre - and Barry would excel in that role. Liverpool also need English players as, year after year, clubs will be forced to reduce the number on non-nationals.”

Balague also points to that, according to some calculations, Rafa Benitez has recouped almost £50 million and spent only £28 million - leaving £22 million for further signings without having to sell the likes of Xabi Alonso. Balague though insinuates that the decision not to sell Alonso is most likely to have come from the board, rather than Benitez.

In summary, Balague states “Nobody knows if Gareth Barry will end up at Anfield, but you can be sure the manager will do his best to get him.”

Regarding Silva, Balague writes that, despite reports this weekend suggesting Tom Hicks and George Gillett are to bid for Silva, “There has been no offer for David Silva from Liverpool and there has been no approach made to either Valencia or to the player’s representatives.”

Balague claims two clubs, Barcelona and Man United, have lodged bids for the attacking midfielder, but that he “the impression that Silva doesn’t particularly fancy going abroad” and that his representatives will meet with Valencia on Wednesday to decide his future.

It looks like Silva is out of the question now :(
