We need more english players with the 6+5 coming in, just think if it goes ahead how much would milner cost this time next year? Rafa loves a bit of business but i would bet its nothing more than an enquiry on our part but a swap with pennant wouldnt be a bad deal. Their last two seasons stats are alike but with one big difference, pennant was playing for us while milner was playing for newcastle, he's at the right time for a step up in class, a much more powerfull player than pennant, hailed as the next big thing a few years back but end up stuttering with the barcodes

Winning the race for Milner doesn't make you particularly want to celebrate I must admit. It's a little bit like winning the race to open the fridge first when your in the house on your own. That said, he isn't a bad player and I've enough faith in the managers eye to think he can probably step up on what he's shown previously. I hope so anyway.

this milner business is a wind up right? the guy cant cross, never gets it past the first player. i cannot for the life of me see why we would want this guy for any more than say 2mill?

I do hope this rumour is exactly that but more worrying is its a persistant one.

Usually Rafa throws a shock/rubbish signing in every summer like Vornin, Pennant who you know are going to be kak but we have to suffer them  :(

Not convinced, but he's young enough for us to resell if it doesn't work out.

Pompey will buy him.

agreed about the point about english player quotas...I have a feeling that if rafa is indeed interested in milner he's looking at it more like an investment...
