You could go into a little more detail and give us a few options and how much they would cost - that kind of thing

It's a good topic mate, it's just that we'd appreciate a little bit of your own development to start the thread.

You can do that several ways, mentioning a list of players, explaining why you'd like them here and how they'd be an improvement on what we have.

Kewell is a kind of player that if fit, is useful for any team. He's aussie, but he could be Spaniard in his game, the typical Spanish winger wants to play like Kewell. Since he's gone, I'd be surprised if Rafa wouldn't bring a player that can do a dribbling and put a good cross. I'd love to have Silva, for instance.

Sure, he can give the dreaded "options" as he knows to be a second striker and a winger, but he's proven to be a consistent winger in primera, and also in segunda.

This last bit might seem irrelevant, but he played for Eibar some years back and he really impressed me in the sense that in that division tackles are harder and soft players are bullied. Yet in that aspect aswell he was brave, that's why I find it relevant.

In the other wing, I expected a Pennant progress this season after a promising first season in which he even claimed a place in the English squad at some point. Perhaps Pennant thought the job was done, got overconfident and that's not forgiven by Rafa.

Wings are definitely the positions which we must strengthen.

Any of the following:

Daniel Alves, Franck Ribery, Philip Lahm, Per Mertesacker, David Silva, or Joaquin.

Would love to see Ronaldinho as our major attacking signing this year.

He keeps being strongly linked with Man City.

So I think Liverpool should stand a fair chance!!!

Isn't Mertesacker a centre back, one of the positions where we actually have real quality in depth? But one or two of the others would be awesome... surely Joaquin and Silva must be affordable from Valencia right now? And Miguel's pretty good too, if we were to raid 'em...

Liverpool fail with bid for Espanyol winger Riera
tribalfooball.com - May 29, 2008

Liverpool have failed with a bid for Espanyol winger Albert Riera.
The Reds are believed to have tabled an offer of around 12million euros (£9.5million), but that falls considerably short of the Primera Liga club's valuation.

Riera enjoyed a uneventful loan spell at Manchester City in 2006, but has flourished since returning to his homeland.

He has missed out on Spain's squad for Euro 2008 but has impressed when given a chance with the national side, scoring a spectacular debut goal against Denmark in October 2007.

The winger has recently expressed his desire to secure a move to a bigger club but has been told in no uncertain terms that he will be going nowhere unless a substantially higher bid is received.

"We are very disappointed with the quotes made by the player last week," said Espanyol president Daniel Sanchez Llibre.

"If a player wants to leave then they should speak with the club, not the press.

"If a club wants to sign Riera then the price will be 24million euros (£19million), and that figure will not change."

Not sure what is more concerning, that we cant close a deal for Riera or that we are trying to sign Riera
