The one thing to come out of all this is the negative publicity that has been generated as a result of the mishandling of this farce whatever the cause must never be repeated. We look a right bunch of monkeys dont we? ???

Fabio Capello for Liverpool report is 'utter rubbish'Dec 5 2007
by Tony Barrett, Liverpool Echo

LIVERPOOL today emphatically dismissed speculation they want Fabio Capello to replace Rafa Benitez as manager.

One report this morning stated that Liverpool had made contact with the Italian boss with a view to him taking over at Anfield.

But Reds chief executive Rick Parry moved swiftly to knock down the speculation, describing it as “absolutely, completely and utterly untrue”.

The report claimed 61-year-old Capello – who has already thrown his hat into the ring for the England manager’s job – was contacted twice by Liverpool last week, before and after the Champions League win over Porto.

But Parry insists no such approaches were ever made and is perplexed by the rumours.

He said: “Capello has not contacted us and we have not contacted him.”

Parry must have wet the bed ! Up early and actually making a statement in reasonable time.

Still Parry should be replaced if any of what Ciggy posted earlier is true. The guy cant do his job and nearly got a very good manger, the best since Dalglish sacked because he didnt inform the Yanks.

Its the usual rubbish, printed by fools who have nothing else to 'report'. On SSN another rag had the backpage that Newcastle were lining up Capello, another had an article that Mike Ashley was quoted as saying he had no plans to sack Allardyce. And the we have the Liverpool one, and now we have Parrys unaquivocal denial. As usual the stories have been fabricated. C UNTS

REDS QUASH CAPELLO TALK
Jimmy Rice 05 December 2007

Liverpool Football Club today rubbished reports linking Fabio Capello with a move to Anfield.
Newspaper speculation on Wednesday suggested the former Juventus and AC Milan coach had been approached by the club.

But spokesman Ian Cotton said: "This story is complete nonsense."

We can now safely end this thread.

what i don't understand is why Parry would do what is claimed? i can't see his motivation, surely he'd try (at the very least) to do his job or face the sack... why wouldn't he inform the owners?

I'm sure Parry's done a lot of mistakes, but I'm not sure every story that is told about him is true. For instance the one of RAWK is one that is perfect to place Parry in the traditional position of scapegoat, but I don't think it's true.

Too clumsy even for Parry not to tell the owners.
