As for being strange, perhaps for you culture, but it was used a lot here especially in the past. Players are also known often by the nickname of their parents. If you want even stranger things, for instance the Alonso brothers, are known by the older men here as "scraps", as their family had a business of scraps for ages.

Was thinking the same thing. Haven't seen him on any list of our reserve or youth teams on the official or wiki and hasn't been in any teamsheets as far as i know.
