this kid was voted the best player in the brazilian championship last season. just been listening to tim vickery (a south american football journalist) on the radio who describes him as very much an attacking midfielder who's also very strong physically. he claimed that next season will very much be a bedding in season for the kid but long term can see him working very well alongside mascherano.

Confirms to you how? Rafa is trying to get Alonso tied down to a long term contract, Alonso has said he wants to stay. How does that confirm to you he will be leaving?
Just because we've signed a young Brazilian midfielder, a propspect for the future, you confirm in your own mind that Alonso is now somehow surplus to requirements. Are you off your heed!

I think Rafa should sit Momo down and say to him......

For the good of lfc you will go out on loan this season, it isnt to one club, you will play centre midfield for every team that plays Manchester United, the benefits are you get to kick Scholes, Ronaldo and Rooney & co every week, you also get to meet lots of new people and be idolised by every set of fans in the premiership.
United then will end up drawing loads of games, as Momo will ruin them by nicking the ball and then hoofing it out of the stadium.  :D

Not sure if the premiership would allow it, but you never know  :)

Leiva deal triumph for Liverpool owners
tribalfooball.com - May 17, 2007

Liverpool trumped a host of Italian clubs for Gremio midfielder Lucas Pezzini Leiva because they acted quicker than their rivals, it has been revealed.
In a tribute to how the club's new American owners are backing Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez, it's been revealed the Reds took less than 72 hours to close the deal for the Brazil U20 captain.

Filippo Taddia, who leads an agency that was handling Italian clubs' interest in Leiva, said: "Liverpool had an option on the player for 72 hours and we all believed he would go to Fiorentina, which was the Italian club that was closest to signing him.

"But to our surprise, Liverpool acted on their option. They didn't mess around and met the demands of Gremio, which were around £6 million. It was only the option that prevented the player from going to Italy
               -----------------------------------
Sounds like we may finally be getting our act together in the transfer market. How many players have we lost over the last few years because we hesitated, or messed about!

On May 13, 2007 Liverpool confirmed the acquisition of Lucas and will join the club from Gremio in time for the start of the 2007-08 season.[4] The transfer fee is rumoured to be worth in the region of €10 million.[5] Lucas will remain with Gremio until the end of their 2007 Copa Libertadores campaign.

Upon signing with Liverpool, Lucas has been dubbed "the Brazilian Gerrard" by some fans due to the similarity of his playing style with Liverpool's current captain

I said before the story about Lucas was probably bulls**t so it looks like I was proved wrong but who are we gonna sell? Sissoko seems the obvious choice but he's a fans' favourite and he's only 22 so I'll be interested to see what happens. Over to you rafa.......
