He is an *shhole with his nose up on the air (same as his wife). Any he doen't want to play in England because he thinks he is too good. His dream is to play for Barcelona. His grandmother is Spanish (therefor Spanish name: Rafael).

Forget this f*cker:blues:

It would be cool if he comes to Liverpool.... it's a pity that he played for Ajax though....

(because i'm a Feyenoord fan, i'm not really Ajax-minded you see)

I was a big fan of this guy a couple of years ago and would have loved him to come to lfc. However, something is a miss when one minute every big club in the world is after you and then the next you're playing for Hamburg. I don't know what went wrong for him, is it his attitude, his temperament or simply his form? Can't say i've seen him play since he went to Hamburg so it's hard to have an up to date opinion on the lad.

It's a known fact that Rafa doesn't really like this sort of player so if he is still that kind of footballer away from the pitch then I couldn't see him fitting in at Anfield or Rafa's mantra! :;):

Two words: Bellamy,Pennant.

I still think that there are other areas of the team that need working on and investing in more, i.e. Strikers and out and out wingers.

I like VDV and always have done since he ripped us to bits in the Amsterdam tournament a few years ago, I think a lot of people were suprised when he joined Hamburg but he wanted to get out of Holland and get away from the spotlight to concerntrate on his football and thats just what he's done.

vdV is definetly one of the most talented players in Europe, but he´ll need one more season to turn into topclass.
And then is the best time to sign him. He´ll be cheap then...

I though the idea was that you bought players before they turned top class so you get them cheap?

Otherwise his value will rise and will be more expensive a year later.

You are right, but this case is special:
vdV has a clause in his contract that allows
him to leave Hamburg after the 2008/2009 Season
for 1,5 Million €.
So all you have to do is to convince him to come to Liverpool,
in the meantime he´ll improve his skills...

But he may sign another contract before then that eliminates that clause if he performs so well.

Well, I live in Hamburg and I support the HSV,
but my love belongs to the LFC, cause my family is from there
and I got my first jersey when I was 3 years old...but that just by the way. The thing is, I followed vdVs performance here every week and he´s a great captain here, and of course HSV offered
him a new contract, several times, but he won´t sign, cause for him there´s no need to...it is quite sure, that he´ll leave one day,
cause he´s one of the best players in the Bundesliga,
it´s just a question of time....

I´ll keep ya updated...  :;):

Well I'd trust your judgement over mine on his performances seeing as you follow HSV and I don't - well a little bit of Bundesliga isn't too bad.

I'm aware of how highly he was rated at Ajax and he was dubbed the next Cruyff - silly really because not many if anybody at all has reached his level over the past 30 years, it's just a media thing they like to do with the very best such as Maradonna and Pele. Cruyff is the equivalent in Dutch terms.

How would you assess Van der Vaart, what are his strengths, weaknesses and can he reach the top level?
