Reds in new Raul link

Liverpool are being linked with a fresh move for Real Madrid star Raul at the end of the season.

The Reds have been credited with an interest in Raul for some time with Rafa Benitez a close personal friend of the Spanish international.

Reports emanating from Spain this weekend suggest Liverpool could make a move for the Real Madrid icon in the summer.

Speculation intensified over a possible move to Liverpool last summer after Raul was spotted at Anfield watching some games.

Raul's future at El Santiago Bernabeu is up in the air as he has struggled to hold down a regular place in Fabio Capello's starting XI.

The forward has previously claimed he would quit Real if the club made it clear he was surplus to requirements and after the defeat to Getafe in October Real president Ramon Calderon revealed Raul considered quitting the club.

The news alerted Benitez to Raul's possible availability and the Liverpool boss has been eagerly monitoring his situation in the Spanish capital.

Raul's agent Gines Carvajal has admitted if the striker was to leave Real, England would be his preferred destination.

"If he leaves Real in the summer it will be easy the destination in England," Carvajal told Spanish radio station Cadena Ser.

Liverpool are thought to be ready to offer Raul a three-year deal in a bid to lure him to Anfield.

I don't think we need him unless our strikers aren't delivering properly.

I like Raul, has best champions league record (most goals) and he scored tons of goals with real madrid I wouldn't mind having him in liverpool. His record speaks itself, he is a natural goalscorer.

Real Madrid forward Raul is hoping to see out his career with the club despite rumours linking him with a move to Liverpool.
The 29-year-old striker, who has become a legend at the Bernabeu during his prolific career, has been linked with The Reds by some media outlets in Spain.
But Raul insists he wants to end his career where it started.
"When there are defeats there are always many rumours but the only thing I am concerned about is the club (Real Madrid)," Raul told Real Madrid TV.
"I am very happy and content and I will carry on working as I have always done with the hope of finishing (at Madrid)."
Raul also expressed his sadness at the departure of England midfielder David Beckham to LA Galaxy.
"When a team-mate goes it makes you sad," said the Spain international.

Yer i think he's most definately past his best, still shows the odd glimpse of his former self but i think he'd be another morientes. Hes certainly a clever player with a footballing brain but i dont think he quite suits the prem.

He's the last thing we need. Slower than Robbie, and less suited to playing here than Nando.

Disagree, Raul is not slow or fast, he has average acceleration and he is faster than robbie fowler.
