Reds enter Bodmer chase

Liverpool are planning to launch a bid for Lille midfielder Mathieu Bodmer, according to reports in France.

Bodmer has five years to run on his current contract with Lille but has admitted that he is keen to one day challenge himself in England.

Premiership duo Manchester United and Arsenal have both been linked with him in the past, as well as a host of other European heavyweights.

He has been an influential figure for Claude Puel's side this season and has helped Lille to qualify for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League for the first time.

French sources claim that Liverpool are now mulling over a move for the highly-rated defensive midfielder

I like this player, very much in the hamman mould i believe. would be a great addition to the squad, no idea what sort of bidding war would start tho!!!

No thanks, I don't care how good he is, we've got Alonso, Mascherano and Sissoko - that's one area we're not struggling in.

I can't see this one to be true i mean we have 4 top class mid men 3 being defensive and only SG with attacking prowess. only if the rumours about Aonso and Momo moving away have any credibilty could i see us signing Bodmer. From what i have seen of him he is a talented player in the mould of Didi H but more mobile.

Alonso, Mascherano, Gerrard Sissoko in the middle of midfield and now this guy.....I can't see it unless Rafa is planning on selling one of the aforementioned (and I can't see that happening).
