Yakubu - Anyone agree?

I strongly feel this guy is perhaps our best option in terms of strikers in the summer. dunno if hes been mentioned much but hes consistently scored alot over here so is undoubtedly top premiership class. hes rotting in a horrible team at middlesborough under steve "i hate the word entertainment" mcclaren so im sure would jump at the chance to join us.

hes got all you could want really, in that hes got all of heskeys attributes, which he actually uses! (emile take note). pace, power, finishing, awareness and hes ok in the air.

thoughts?

Yakubu linked with move to big clubs
Middlesbrough striker Yakubu could leave the club after interest from the big clubs. Steve McClaren though thinks that Boro would be the best place to prove himself. Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are keeping a close eye on the striker.

McClaren said: "There's always the danger of the bigger clubs lurking.

"Yakubu came here from Portsmouth in the summer, he's been here for three quarters of a season, and he's still got a long way to go.

"There's no better place for him to prove that he's one of the best around than at Middlesbrough. I know he wants to play at the top top level - and hopefully that'll be here.

"But if he continues to do what he's doing, the big boys will come knocking."

its a nothing story but i thought id add it anyway

Yakubu is a good player thought we should have made a move for him when he was at pompey.Could be another option.

We could do a lot worse than Yakubu. Proven he can score in the Premiership.

Yes but they cost the type of astronomical fees only the likes of chelsea can pay. Who says yakubu can't turn into a shevchenko in 2-3 years time?

Just think that we could sign a better player than Yakubu.

Biscan was already "half decent" when he came to LFC. He was never given a consistent run in the first team and was continually played out of position. He would never been a starting 11 player especially with Momo setting the world on fire. But he was a good contributor last season.

On Yakubu: If we could get him for under 10million (have not got the pound sign), he would be a great pick up. A direct swap for Moriente's or Cisse would be nice.

Anybody know what the deal is with Andy Johnson @ Crystal Palace ?  :lookaround I like him - he's quick, gives it his all, scores goals....and Benitez likes that kind of dedication. I can't imagine he'd cost anything like as much as a Premiership striker (Yakubu included) or the strikers we've been linked with to date....

The price is always going to be related to how many people are bidding at the time.

As for Yakubu, I think he's a very good player, but more for UEFA cup teams than Champions League teams.  IMO he'd be great for someone else.
