The window has only been open for 2 days, the World Cup's still on, and we've already signed two players. We're a damn sight more active than most other clubs out there.

Ivor the worry,  we don'y know what's been going on behind the scenes (Rafa probably working franatically to get the players he wants.  Anyway I see Rafa as the type that likes to keep things quiet until necessary and supprise the fans.

Rafa knows what he's doing.  I really don't like to see some of us bemoaning already and it's only early July and the World Cup isn't even finished.  Let the man do his job.  He's earned my trust and I bet he's got a good plan laid out for the summer.

Rafael Benitez was celebrating today after Chilean international Mark Gonzalez was given the green light to begin his Liverpool career.
The left winger was granted a work permit after a successful hearing on Wednesday morning, and Benitez believes Gonzalez is a player who will not only enhance his team but also excite the supporters.

"This is very good news for us and I am absolutely delighted to welcome Mark Gonzalez to Liverpool as he is a player the supporters will like to see," Benitez told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"Mark is an exciting left winger who can cross good balls and beat defenders and he is a very good signing for us. He has a very good mentality as when I was talking with him he told me, 'I want to play for Liverpool'."

Gonzalez spent last season on loan in La Liga with Real Sociedad after he was initially refused a work permit to join Liverpool from Spanish side Albacete.

Gonzalez is pictured above taking a break from training at Melwood, alongside new signing Fabio Aurelio, to get some advice from Rafael Benitez.

REDS CONFIRM AURELIO CAPTURE
Steve Hunter 05 July 2006
Liverpool have secured the capture of Fabio Aurelio, with the Brazilian left back putting pen to paper on a four-year deal at Anfield this afternoon.
Aurelio won a Spanish La Liga title under Benitez at Valencia and becomes the first Brazilian to play for Liverpool.

"Fabio is a player with a lot of quality and he is a really good signing for us," Benitez told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"His technical ability is fantastic and he has a great left foot and provides the team with a lot of options. He has a really good mentality and he is a winner."
