He was an ace player for San marino. At Madrid he hasnt looked as sharp. I think he lacks the physical side to his game.

Not sure about him defensively but going forward he caused problems. Based on that one game i thought he would be a good signing.

Although i dont think for one minute he could play right back for us, if Rafa was interested i would bet it was to play him as a right midfielder in tougher games when he wants to be a bit more solid.
Like he has on the left with Aurellio and to an extent Riise.

I've seen far too many flash continental wing backs who fail at the first hurdle in the premiership. I favour the more traditional full backs of the likes of Steve Finnan, no frills just does the job.

I think if he came he'd be used more often in midfield than at right back.

Against the poorer teams he could add a new attacking dimension to the team, from right back. However otherwise he could play right mid or right wing back, similar to what Alves would have played should he have signed.

Think Heinze is more of a priority to cover centre back and probably oust Riise from left back.

I think really when you look at it we are not that strong for players in defence.

Ok Finnan, Carragher, Agger and Riise is a very good back four and Hyypia is still a good back-up.

Who else have we got:-
Arbeloa (has looked good so far, but remember Josemi started well)
Paletta (doesn't look ready yet)
Aurelio (really not convinced, expecially at defending)
Insua (still unproven)
Hobbs (still unproven)

Rafa should go and get Kompany and Heinze

Kompany? Not convinced about him. Plus he's one of the most inure prone players around.

I think you're a touch harsh on Arbeloa. You can't compare him to Josemi. He's had a good start and I don't see any reason why he won't continue from there.

I think Heinze would be suffice. He'd cover centre back and be a more solid left back than Riise.

Yup...Arbeloa is a better player than Josemi.

He didnt say Athletico, he just said at Madrid i would presume he meant Real Madrid.

He didnt say Athletico, he just said at Madrid i would presume he meant Real Madrid.

oh i thought he meant atletico when he said ''At Madrid''
