Well since there has been little footy this week (not to mention no Liverpool) I thought you guys were maybe watching this year's European basketball cup. I'm very much into it because my country is kicking :censored: at the moment, currently on top of our group table while we entered as outsiders. The most exciting moment was today when we beat ex European champions, our "dearest" neighbor country - Greece with 14 points difference. No football until next weekend while there's basketball almost every day so you guys might want to check it out, it's fun to watch.

It all seems a bit...............i dunno gay ( eurobasketball that is ).

The yanks do it with style

The european games ( based on not watching any of it :D Only seeing that the UK got spanked by some backwater n00bs ) seem one  step up ( just ) from an over 60's game of netball

If that was this year, than that was us (Macedonia) :D, the "noobs" I mean. But at the moment we're a whole lot better than the UK.

Anyway, I guess you guys are right, it's nothing like the NBA, but it aint gay and it can be really exciting at times. The NBA is alot better to the eye that's for sure, being extremely attractive and all but cheering for your country, I guess that never gets old.

Not that anyone cares but I started this thread so I guess posting the final ranking of the tournament should be done

1.Gold - Spain - Winning 10 out of 11 games I guess they deserved to be champions. This is their second gold medal in Euro competitions and 3rd overall (not including the Mediterranean Games).

2.Silver - France - 9 out of 11 games, lost both against Spain. This was only their 3rd silver in EuroBasket and only 5th overall. Have never won a gold medal.

3.Bronze - Russia - 10 out of 11, their only lost game was against France in the semis. This is their 2nd bronze medal and second bronze overall as well.

4. 4th - Macedonia. The surprise of the tournament. Entered as outsiders and no one thought they'd even go trough the first group stages. Fought bravely and with an inspiring determination which was the key for them to get this far. Most of their games were filled with drama and last minute winning points, most notably against Lithuania in the quarter-final. This was only our 3rd appearance in this competition and overall. Won 7 out of 11 games, losing 2 against Russia.

5. 5th - Lithuania - The host of the tournament. Playing on their own ground with thousands of Lithuanian fans they were considered one of the favourites for the gold but lost in a dramatic match against Macedonia in the semis. They secured the 5th place in another dramatic match against Greece. In their 11th appearance, the Lithuanians won 8 out of 11 games.

6. 6th - Greece - Think they had a few players injured for this tournament. This was their 24th appearance in EuroBasket competition. The last one to qualify for the 2012 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

7. 7th - Slovenia - Won 6 out of 11 games on their 10th appearance.

8. 8th - Serbia - Lot worse than their previous appearance when they won the silver medal. Won 5 out of 11 games on their 21th appearance.

9. 9th - Germany - A rather disappointing performance some would think, but way better than the last one when they were 11th. Won 4 out of 8 games.

10. 9th - Finland - The other surprise of the tournament apart from Macedonia. They were last in their qualifying group but because FIBA decided that 24 countries will participate instead of 16, Finland qualified for the tournament in the Additional Qualifying Round and made it count. Won 3 out of 8 games and shared the 9th place with Germany on their 13th appearance, 1st in 16 years.

11. 11th - Turkey - With winning 3 out of 8 games, the Turks were placed 11th on their 24th appearance.

12. 11th - Georgia - Good performance by the Georgians. Shared the 11th place with Turkey with 2 wins and 6 loses on their 1st ever appearance.

13. 13th - Bosnia - Won 2 and lost 3 on their 7th appearance.

14. 13th - Bulgaria - Won 2 out of 5 games on their 24th appearance.

15. 13th - Great Britain - 3 losses and 2 wins on their 2nd appearance (shocking, I know :D).

16. 13th - Israel - Won 2 out of 5 games on their 27th appearance.

17. 17th - Ukraine - Won 2 out of 5 on their 5th appearance.

18. 17th - Poland - Lost 3 and 2 two on their 25th appearance.

19. 17th - Croatia -  2 out of 5 on their 10th appearance.

20. 17th - Italy - The country with most appearances in EuroBasket lost 4 and won only one game on their 35th appearance.

21. 21th - Montenegro - Lost 4 and won 1 on their 1st appearance.

22. 21th - Latvia - Lost all five on their 13th appearance.

23. 21th - Belgium - On their 14th appearance, the Belgians lost all of their 5 games.

24. 21th - Portugal - They lost all of their 5 games on their 4th appearance.

Holy :censored: I can't believe I wrote all this, hope someone reads it :D.
