I smoke.... and will continue to till the die I die.... which may not be too far into the future!

I like it and lifes too short anyway. I don't smoke in the presence of non-smokers though.
Can't take the accusing looks and all....

I smoked for more than 20 years, a pack a day when I stopped. Went from 20 to nowt overnight but pulled through.

That was 7 years ago. I allow myself the odd smoke once/twice a year 'cos I know when I wake up I'll feel like :censored: which usually puts me off for another year! I´ve been in training for 3 years now which also provides incentive to stay off.

I always enjoyed smoking, I understand those who do and if there was a no danger ciggy, I´d smoke it.
That said despite years of enjoyment, stopping was the best thing I did.

I stopped when the kids were born, I didnt want to set a bad example (dad smoked 40 a day and I had my first cig at 7) and I didnt want to shorten my own life and leave the wife and kids to fend for themselves. Nowadays the wife is encouraging me to start again.

You have no chance! :D

You sound like you enjoy it too much, you need to see them as the enemy and hate the buggers before you have a chance I reckon mate!

But with gods help I will rid myself of this terrible affliction! :buttrock

I'm on my second batch of Champix...and still haven't managed to stop yet. I know these things are meant to assist you giving up the cigs, so long as you've made the decision to stop to begin with, but I think I was expecting some kind of epiphany....which, er, hasn't happened...
That said, I'm down from about 20 a day to between 6 or 7, some days less....I'd love to just be done with them altogether though.....every time I have one I feel pangs of guilt....

A patch is a crutch, just make the decision - think of your kids.

It's not that hard to quit, 2 and a half weeks of hell and then it's temptation city for up to about 3 months, after that you're free and saving a lot of money. One of the best things I ever did was quit smoking.

i'm an on/off smoker and have been since about 14 years old (28 years ago, by christ!). i've given up for 2 years twice, for a year 2 or 3 times, and a few months several times. at the moment i'm smoking about 5 a day unless i'm out having a beer when it goes up to about 15. if i'm watching us playing i'll chug through 10 ciggies easily.

i'm going to knock it on the head again after the weekend (i'll be in berlin til monday and that is no place to stop smoking) but maybe i'm enjoying it too much at the moment. in fact, that's probably why i need to knock it on the head - i'm enjoying it too much and am smoking more because of it.

lucky strike blue, by the way, in case anyone was wondering...
