anyone read this sh!te?

Musical tastes and personality type are closely related, according to a study of more than 36,000 people from around the world.

The research, which was carried out by Professor Adrian North of Heriot-Watt University, is said to be the largest such study ever undertaken.

It suggested classical music fans were shy, while heavy metal aficionados were gentle and at ease with themselves.

Professor North described the research as "significant" and "surprising".

What does your musical taste say about you?
He said: "We have always suspected a link between music taste and personality. This is the first time that we've been able to look at it in real detail. No-one has ever done this on this scale before."

Prof North said the research could have many uses in marketing, adding: "If you know a person's music preference you can tell what kind of person they are, who to sell to.

"There are obvious implications for the music industry who are are worried about declining CD sales.

"One of the most surprising things is the similarities between fans of classical music and heavy metal. They're both creative and at ease but not outgoing.

MUSICAL STYLES VERSUS PERSONALITY TRAITS

BLUES   High self-esteem, creative, outgoing, gentle and at ease
JAZZ   High self-esteem, creative, outgoing and at ease
CLASSICAL MUSIC   High self-esteem, creative, introvert and at ease
RAP   High self-esteem, outgoing
OPERA   High self-esteem, creative, gentle
COUNTRY AND WESTERN   Hardworking, outgoing
REGGAE   High self-esteem, creative, not hardworking, outgoing, gentle and at ease
DANCE   Creative, outgoing, not gentle
INDIE   Low self-esteem, creative, not hard working, not gentle
BOLLYWOOD   Creative, outgoing
ROCK/HEAVY METAL   Low self-esteem, creative, not hard-working, not outgoing, gentle, at ease
CHART POP   High self-esteem, not creative, hardworking, outgoing, gentle, not at ease
SOUL   High self-esteem, creative, outgoing, gentle, at ease

pile of sh!te. i like indie music, also like some rap, pop, folk, opera, whatever

it will be a blinder  tbh  i didnt like the load albums,  by metallica standard's   they were not that good

i thought st anger  was better because it sounded raw...

i can tell after hearing 2 of there new songs it will suit the early fans of metallica...

metallica never talk up a record like they are here...

they  say its the new and improved metallica...

believe it  believe the hype...   :;):

Dont know about that, they'll never hit the heights of the first 4 albums and what ive heard so far proves that, still sounding like the best stuff since that time though

It supposedly is the missing link between Justice and Black, but I am fully geared up to be disappointed by this one too. There aren't too many bands that can maintain the intensity into their forties while their asses are being pampered in their multi-million dollar homes. Just to look at Jaymz nowadays is a visual example of where the problem lies. Compare that to the Justice version of Het and you know there is never a hope of regaining that glory. The fire isn't burning the same. The only positives I am drawing from him is that he seems to have dropped the 'baby' phrases after every sentenance.....Metallica baby....WTF?

Same goes for Lars, the dude was never the greatest drummer, but he used to F*ck that kit up good and proper.....he seems to have trouble locating his toms nowadays.

I hope they are onto the good path again as I have been yearning for them not to let me down for the best part of 20 years, but me fears this ain't going to happen, Rubin or no Rubin.

Personally me's a big fan of Garage Days Re-revisited and the B sides to Harvester.....Breadfan anyone? Awesome sh1t.

Take the middle down on the guitars again and get Het singing through a sh1tty mike and we'll be back to the great sounds of the 80's.

Incidentally, any of your guys picked up on Black Stone Cherry over the last couple of years? If not, pick up the first album (eponymous)....Rain Wizard, Big Train (Metallica rip off) and Shooting Star are nice nice nice (Boff on Shooting Stars voice)

The Unforgiven 3

I don't think many people will be dissapointed with their new album.

This is one of the best ever Metallica songs that I have ever heard.
