Thyme (Thymus) is a genus of about 350 species of aromatic perennial herbs and sub-shrubs to 40 cm tall, in the family Lamiaceae. They are native to Europe, north Africa and Asia. The stems are thin and wiry; the leaves are evergreen in most species, arranged in opposite pairs, oval, entire, and small, 4-20 mm long. The flowers are in dense terminal heads, with an uneven calyx, with the upper lip three-lobed, and the lower cleft; the corolla is tubular, 4-10 mm long, and white, pink or purple.

When examining time, one must first establish whether it is of linear construction or a series of unordered jumbled events. Depending on which one is believed the ideas of free will, fate, causality and event space will change. If time is linear then to travel back in time would cause a break in the space/time continuinuinuinum and there would be another you (the original) if you went to a period of your life which you had lived before and causality would be in effect. If time is a JSOE (jumbled series of events) then causality would not apply because without pre-determination, you become a single moveable point in space/time and it is just as likely that you will not be there even if you were there and so you can tread on as many ants as you like. Time travel in itself is possible, though nearly impossible to achieve. If you listen through one of those gigantic teloscopes, you can actually hear the beginning of the universe. So if you travel at the speed of sound (S) over the distance of the speed of light (DL) while inverting the instability force of the universe (U) with something that could equal it's power (EP) while traveling through a wormhole backwards (WB) and then bursting forward at the speed of light (LS). So therefore: (DL/S)xUxEP/(WBxLS) = time travel. Unfortunately this would require establishing a wormhole that could house the universe while still being inside of the universe and some sort of vessel that had the power of all the radioactive fabric of every star. Not easy, but not impossible, but quite improbable. Time therefore is easy to manipulate.

There's a lot of sh*t written in this thread.  :no

Time is, quite simply, a man-made scale.

Ug the caveman, Barneby the Philosopher, or whomever it may have been, saw that the sun rises and sets at certain times of the day (depending on the season, etc).
I would assume they picked noon to start and finish, (so they didn't get too peckish), and worked a scale to fit. (Badly, IMO too. The actual length of a day is more like 23h 59m 0.2ms, hence why every four years we have a leap year (and an extra day) to even things out.

Well the scale was b*llocks, obviously, but just to make their lives easier they rounded it up to what we know as a day.

Then they decided that "I'll meet you at the Market on Wednesday" was leaving them waiting around for a good portion of  "Wednesday".
So - they divided the day into 24 "hours". And so on with minutes, seconds, etc.

So - thousands of years of human processing has given us "Time".

Now don't be late, you hear?  :D
