Yeah, we bought that DVD - that's what put me off.  Every show he says it's not an issue that he likes to cross-dress, then he goes on and on about it and wears more and more eye-catching garb.  If it's not an issue Eddie - shut up about it!

(Yeah, he's funnier than an post-match interview with Fergie when ManUre have lost to Arsenal.)

woof woof ! wrote:For pure stand up imo nobody comes close to Eddie Izzard . Billy Connolly was a big favourite of mine but now find his material a bit "tired" ,having said that I still pmsl when I look at the stuff he was doing 15/20 years ago .

eddie izzard is hillarious especially "glorious"  :bowdown

I used to think that I was in a minority thinking that Ricky Gervais was overrated but lookin at the results so far of the poll it seems that most of the people on here don't really rate him either.
I watched about 5-10 mins of the office on a couple of occassions but didn't laugh once and when E4 showed his standup show a few months back I also saw a few minutes of it and again I found him about as funny as an acid enema. people say this guy is a comedy genius but to me he seems to be as comically gifted as Hitler.
Okay humour is a very varied thing but I find alot of different comedians really funny; Peter Kay couldn't be more different to Jack Dee as is Eddie Izzard and Ken Dodd but i still laugh me ass off at all of them but when it comes to gervais i just think  :sleep .

drummerphil wrote:Peter Kay for me.I've seen him live twice and nobody has ever made me laugh as much.I come from an era where monty python, spike milligan ,the goodies and later the young ones have always been my thing humour wise.Apart from "life of brian" which is my funniest film of all time nothing has made me laugh more than Peter Kay.I can relate to nearly every story the guy has to tell........class

The Monty Python team were absolutely tremendous, and very risque at the time. Infact, a lot of their material will never be shown again on TV due to it's content!!!!!

The first time I watched "The Life Of Brian", (I was about 12 at the time and it was on Channel 4), I was in f*cking hysterics. I am fairly sure I have never laughed as much in my entire life!!!
Actually, I had to watch the film about 7 times in 2 days just to see the bits I missed while p*ssing my pants!!!!!!

"Oh, alright. One more time mate - I'll take you to the f*ckin' cleaners!"

Brian: "Oh alright then I AM the Messiah!"
Crowd: "HE IS! HE IS THE MESSIAH!!!"
Brian: "Now F*CK OFF!"

I'm nearly crying with laughter just thinking about these quotes!!!!!!
Spike Milligan was in that film aswell. I have just been watching him on "Room 101", and he elected to put Chris Evans in.
He said, (and this is a direct quote):
"The best thing I can wish him is an early death."

Regarding stand up comics though, Robin Williams wins hands down for me. (Provided it isn't aimed soley at the Yanks, as no jape is funny if you don't know who he's yakking about!!!!!)  :buttrock   :D
