Ok people, so that's a ratio of almost 6:1 that don't read posts full of text speak.  Since I posted this thread, I stand by my original post that I don't and won't read them, not because of some ludicrous principle.  It's because there are still some members doing it and I can't read their posts.

It's because when you are supposedly posting your views on Liverpool Football Club (remember the initial reason why we are here everyone?) I thought 99.9% of the users on this forum were using a PC or a Mac, not a mobile device be it phone or PDA.  I have actually accessed this site on a mobile Blackberry PDA and I would still have the decency to post correct words.

Why do I use the word decency?  I use that word because those of you who do use text speak are selfishly typing like that because it is quicker for you to type your message, even though the reader finds it harder to make out what is being said, on the contrary to what is the popular belief that text speak actually makes things easier.  It doesn't.

This is a discussion forum.  There is no need whatsoever to use text speak.  Repeat, there are six times as many people on this forum alone who do not read your posts when you type them in this juvenile language.

Don't use it, then you might find that your posts might just get read and you never know, somebody might actually take you seriously and reply to you.

If it's okay with the other moderators, I'll leave this thread open for a few more hours to see what the other members think now my test is over, and I will lock this topic tonight.

If this is the last reply in this thread, I feel I've made my point fairly.

Be honest with yourself, why are you here?  To get your views across?  Why bother if no one reads what you're saying?

But just remember you may post decently and people still may not read your posts  :D

I thought it was an important point but many may disagree  :D

Adding to your post jonny, is it me or do posts with text speak make the poster seem less intelligent about Liverpool, Football and in general?

you may make an excellent point, but it is lost in all the text speak dross.

I don't need a handphone. That way, when debt collectors call you,you can run away safely knowing that they can't contact your handphone.(or force your wife to dial you for that matter)

But back to topic, this SMS language is an overwhelming problem.Even the Education Minister in my country is trying to solve this.obviously in vain.I HATE text speak. It insults the language, man. My English teacher in middle school said...The great English writers of the past would be crying in their grave.

I voted for reading text speak.I thought it meant reading in proper text when I first read it.Back in my place,we just call them SMS language.Mistaken vote. :p
