Apparently, I was wrong.... You can't have it both both ways, I feel. If you back the boss, then back the boss.... After all he lead us down the path of no return with his attempts to flog Xabi off last year. It's biting him in the @rse now...

But Rafa knows best right?
By that reckoning, Xabi can go if he wants..... and shouldn't we be berating him for deserting us in this hour of our greatest need when we are so close to the the holy grail? (devil's advocate)

I wouldn't use the term myself, but the term "fickle" seems apt at this moment in time, does it not? After all, it's been bandied about in some of our faces often enough...

A very interesting point Conn, particularly the "fickle" line, I like that     :D

Well now - here's a conundrum to which my answer will no doubt be anticipated.

Xabi - my favourite player in the squad, or Rafa - the one in whom I trust...

I am a firm believer that you should back the gaffer (it doesn't take a genius to work that one out.)

But "backing" and "agreeing with" are two totally different concepts. No-one agrees with anyone all of the time, and if the rumours are correct (for that is all they are), I will definitely file this under "me and Rafa must have words".

Let's look at this logically, shall we? (I understand that some of you fickle f*ckers might struggle with that today, so try again tomorrow. (Hey - if you can change your minds daily, it's not impossible that you can gain more intelligence...))

Without Rafa, Alonso would never have played for this club in the first place. The vast majority of us would not have heard of him unless another English team had signed him, or starred for Spain against England.
Whatever the reasons behind the attempt to sell Alonso last Summer, Rafa has since made it clear that he wants to keep him. Now it's the pass-master who wishes to leave.

So it's not about who you want here. I want them both here:

They are both at the top of their respective trees and obviously love the club.

If I HAD to keep one, then it would be Rafa as he is the reason why we have Alonso to lose in the first place.

I agree with Lando.in what hes saying, I have never changed my stance in my backing of Rafa , i fecking love Xabi well you all know that,  But i love our boss an all , an yes i would be deverstated if Xabi left , but i think Rafa would be harder to replace than Xabi an thats why i went with the boss ,

irony of what? you cant safely sit there and say we'd be fourth if Xabi was here, he might have been unhappy and not played half as well as last year

I have voted for Xabi but only because of the dire season we are having.
