I think it had an effect, and I think he should bring in a good assistant (not pako) to take some of the load off his shoulders. I also believe if he got the right person they could maybe help with the parts of Rafa's job that he doesn't seem to be that good at...... Motivating and relating to his players. Maybe this is a false perception but judging by the comments from the players could be true?

Exactly. He needs to delegate some of his work. Hope a good quality number 2 is appointed.

I agree with that s@int, it's perhaps something we are missing.

I always thought Paul Jewell would be good for that role. However his personal and professional image have taken a bit of a battering recently so not sure it would be the best time for him.

It's up to him, if he feels he needs another assistant, he'll get one. It's difficult for us as fans to deduce much about the need, or otherwise, for an(other) assistant.

Torres in a recent interview said Rafa had 'great powers of seduction', which would he indicate he's capable of motivating his players.

When paco was here we were first of the table for the first time in 4 years with a decent squad , even if it was for a short time . He needs a number 2
