we seem to be forgetting that if rooney is only 60 or 70 % fit he will be playing agaisnt world class defenders who are 100% fit (ok we are not talking about trinidad and tobago here). its not like he will be playing against sunderland or west brom.

i hate this desire to take people that will not be able to perform to their best level, whats the point? a 60% rooney is not as good as a 100% defoe.

we took beckhm to japan in similar circumstances and it failed spectacuarly when he jumped out the tackle and brazil went on to score, and he admitted himself later that he shouldnt have gone as he wasnt fit.

i dont want an unfit rooney to take the place that can be given to a fully fit player because of his hype. yes hes a great player but hes a great player when hes fully fit

Well it looks like Fergie isn't going to let him go if he isn't 100%, so this is now a bit of a fruitless argument.

Agreed a 50% fit Rooney is always worth taking.

All whinging aside, isn't this the time that Sven earns his many millions a year in salary. So Rooney is crocked, Owen isn't quite fit, etc, etc. When the going gets tough...yeah, you all know the drill. But seriously, for all the dosh Sven gets paid this should be the time to show his mettle. Anyone can manage a team when no-one is injured and your best team names itself. It's not as if other countries don't have top players injured.

Well Rafa reckons Crouch is gonna shine in this world cup. I hope he does, but I can't see him having a quarter of the effect of Rooney. Owen can't play up front alone whatever happens, he just doesn't work well on his own. I'd start with Owen and Bent and bring Crouch on to change the game.

I think Man U gotta a jinx.. Alan Smith and Wayne Rooney both gotta miss this WC.. As Wayne is not Beckham, he will surely miss it.. So, anybody wanna take England as underdog.?. Cheers..

Even if he isnt fully fit they take him. He is their best striker. It would be leaving Kewell out of the WC when he might be not be fully fit

I would take rooney to the world cup, but he shouldn't play until he's 100% fit.

If they need him they will play him when he isn't fully fit

I think we should we should take him, even if it's for the knockout stages, at least he will always be a threat to the oppenents defence, better then having Heskey in the World Cup squad

yeah i say take him, cant hurt and if we're desperate we can then use him even though not fully fit

there`s pictures of rooney in the sunday papers riding a bike with training shoes on and no sign of a cast. he is keeping fit by cycling and other exercise`s that dont involve kicking a ball.
they`ve even sent the oxygen tank they had at uniteds training ground back saying he doesnt need it.
the paper says off the record the f.a hope rooney will start training with a ball the week before the world cup starts but they are playing the news down in case he has a owen style relapse.
if he starts training proper a week before the tournament by the time the knock out stages come around he would have had 3 weeks intensive training in a camp enviroment where they eat and sleep footy 24/7 and thats plenty of time.
wouldnt surprise me to see him play some small part in the final 2 group matches tbh.

I wouldn't take him. He will not be fit, even if his foot is healed.

Anyone who says that he will retain his current fitness should just look at how Xabi was affected in a week.

No way - if he goes, Eriksson is a bigger tw*t than I thought.
