Free kick specialists aren't essential in this league nor in the european cup. If as a team you rely on winning games via set pieces the your not that good quite frankly. I'm happy with what we've got, we are free flowing in terms of goals - still room for improvement though.

Nothing suggests that our free-kick conversion rate is a problem. I think our goal conversion is pretty healthy. To me this is a trivial topic

Why not apply for a post as a scout at Anfield and put forward your ideas. You can surely improve the squad, with your intelligent input and all.

Atleast i came up with something, isn't that why we are here...discussing abt OUR club and ways we think we can improve. WHAT DO  U SUGGEST Mr Sarcasm?

I'd rather have Gerrard scoring 15 goals after half a season from open play/peno's, than him to to score 7 a season from freekicks.

Beckham was regarded as the best free kick expert in the World (I don't agree) a few years back, and even his conversion rate would have been less than 25%.

Who's stopping him?
All i'm saying is wudn't our team be much better off if we had someone who cud bulge the back of the net 4m free kicks on top of that!

I think Stevie delivers the ball just fine. Theres been a few ocasion where hes floated it over from a corner to Risse to volley and its just gone over. They have a great partnership on the pitch those two.

i agree, SG free kick against Soa Paola was okay but easier to save because he went to keepers side, we need someone who can bend em over the wall. If he'd gone over the wall sure goal.

Yeah i noticed Stevie doesnt bend them like Alsono of Beckham does. He tends to hit them with power more. He doenst take them all the time though , he varies will Alsono and hes good at free kicks.

Stevie too often hits the ball straight into the wall. He'll be much more useful inside the box or trying to win the 2nd ball and letting someone else handle the free kicks and corners.

I cannot believe nearly a quarter of people think we need to spend money on a player just because he can hit a dead ball better than Gerrard, Riise, Alonso, Hamman and Kewell. Beyond me. Besides, is there really such a thing as a free kick specialist? All the top free takers throuh the years have been really good players all round, not "specialists" Anyway, c'est la vie!
