Guys, don't get carried away with Morrientes. He is a very skillful player but hardly really prolific as a striker because he usually plays behind Raul or the main striker. If I am not mistaken, his best season's tally was 18 goals (I am not sure if this is in all competitions or just the league) when Raul would be in the 20s and so would Ronaldo.

Morrientes is more like the link between midfield and the front striker and he has the ability to score in difficult situations with his turn of skill but he had not been the main striker for Real Madrid. If he comes to England, he needs to adjust to the rough and tumble of the EPL and he will have to withstand more physical challenges from defenders who get more physical leeway than in Spain or France.

Anelka has fully adjusted and is a player who scores 20+ or thereabouts per season.

We need a consistent goal scorer, Anelka is the more suitable than Morrientes. The only thing against Anelka is his attitude and the influence of his pesky brothers who unsettled him at Arsenal, Real Madrid and PSG. Also, Anelka can teach the art of goal scoring to our goal-shy strikers - especially Cisse!

I haven't seen that much of morientas so I'll talk about Anelka.

I was not impressed with him at LFC, he played 22 games and scored about 3 goals. That's Heskey rate.

Both are required. We also need to try and sell Mellor to AC Milan for £15 million

during his loan spell at liverpool anelka made 20 appearances and scored 4 goals. however i remember that his general play was quite good. he also scored 17 league goals in 32 league games for a man city side that finished 16th last season. that's pretty impressive.

We need a striker who is a good finsher if we took half the chances we are creating then we wud win alot more games i am not o bothered who comes in but Gerrard seems to think anelka is the right man and if gerrard wants him back his attidute can t be that bad

Again idleally wud lke both get rid of super mellor

I wouldn't mind seeing both, as a matter of fact Benitez said he was going to buy two strikers I believe. Morientes is more likely to join if Real Madrid let him talk to us but Anelka has the experience in the EPL.

Can't decide

morientex is saying in the bbcsport site that he would like to come here, as he rates benitez. Anelka would relish champion leagues football. I think we might get morientez on loan with amove to buy at the end of the season and Anelka for around 8 or 9 million in january.

I actually think that is going to happen.

Both would be amazing...  but if we had Morientes, Anelka, Baros and Cisse who would you pick...  remember Anelka and Baros are prone to moaning when not picked!!!!!
