Fancy playing 30 mins each way in the same side as Phil Neal (player/manager), John Aldridge, Gary Gillespie, Steve McMahon, Jan Molby, Nigel Spackman, Ray Houghton, David Fairclough, Michael Thomas and Ronnie Rosenthal???

Liverpool Football Club and the Dons Trust, owners of AFC Wimbledon, have joined forces to re-run the 1988 FA Cup final – and you have the chance to play in it.  The match takes place on Sunday 12 September at Kingsmeadow, the home of AFC Wimbledon and one place in each side can be bid for by fans.

Bids for the Liverpool place can be made here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5118157125
Bids for the Wimbledon place can be made here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5118157984
Bidding ends 02-Sep-04 11:08:16 BST

For Wimbledon Lawrie Sanchez, Andy Thorn, Terry Gibson, Alan Cork, John Scales, Clive Goodyear, Warren Barton, Efan Ekoku, Wally Downes, Marcus Gayle, Jason Euell and Robbie Earle are all set to be there with Terry Burton as manager. Brian Hall, the referee back in 1988, will once again officiate.

It will be a truly memorable day and a complete one off. The winning bidder once at the ground will receive VIP treatment throughout.

If bidding for that is a bit too rich for you then there’s still a chance to wear the red of Liverpool in a fans/celeb game.  All you need to do is email bids@thedonstrust.org with the shirt number your bidding for, your name, address, contact telephone number, shirt size and preferred playing position.  Each winning bid will be guaranteed at least 30 minutes on the pitch!

Current bids for the fans/celeb game can be found here: http://www.afcwimbledon.co.uk/bidding88.php

A donation will be made to The Hillsborough Fund. :)

I think Phil Neal and the rest of the Liverpool guys feel they have a score to settle  :D

The current bid for a place in the Liverpool team is £455 and you can still play in the Liverpool fans/celeb team for as little as £20  -  bidding ends in 4 days!

If you were 10 in '88 then you must be 26 now and in your prime with a once in a lifetime opportunity to right the terrible wrong that Wimbledon did to you as a child :D

Get bidding!!!

Bizzarely I ended up having to go to the circus on Cup Final day in 1988!!  :D I sh1t you not.

I got home to the telly with about 20 minutes to go and when I turned it on I actually thought the score read 6-1........was sadly mistaken!  :(
