Raheem sterling - One for the future

Just watched this guy vs. Celtic and he was phenomenal (and I hope that a video shows up for the game soon or just catch it on e-season). Sterling slipped under my radar when we signed him, and judging from nothing coming up in the Newkit search engine it slipped under the radar of others as well.

We signed Raheem Sterling for what will end up being a minimum of 2m moving to a possible 5m based on performance. Due to the huge potential of this guy, and the size of the fee - he deserves his own separate thread.

Debut vs. Everton from back in March

^ And thread starter will read Espionage :;):

I believe that he will be in and around the first team at 18.

This kid WILL be playing in our first team sooner or later.

He's stupidly good for his age, only 15 and can use both feet, has lightning pace, a good shot and great control.

he is playing against 17 year olds at the moment and looks miles ahead of them all. I would just throw him straight into the reserves.

You wont be saying 'meh' when you see what he has been up to in pre-season...

I think I said this in another thread, but its very possible he could turn out just like Theo or Aaron Lennon.  Probably isn't quite as fast as Theo over long sprints, but he is very quick, and probably a better dribbler than Theo.  But he is very small, and I guess he could still grow because he is so young, he just doesn't look like the kind of kid that is going to grow much.  He does seem to read the game reasonably well for his level, but his crossing isn't anything to write home about either.

But it is true that he looks too good for players that are 2 years older than him.

I think I'll agree with that.  From what I see, he needs to learn how to pass a whole lot better.  Looks more of a striker than winger to me.

But by the time he gets up into possibly getting any first team experience, he will have grown tired of waiting and will have moved on to the next club in his life.  It happens way too often.

Came on for 10 minutes or so in carras testimonial.
Couple of pacey tricky runs and a good cross to which babel should have scored.
Looked impressive in the very short space of time he had.
