We could play Alonso and Sissoko behind Gerrard as an attacking midfielder, that would make us rock solid, and with two attacking wingers like Pennant and Gonzalez or Kewell, and Kuyt on front, we would score many goals and still be solid. But it seems that we cannot play like that in the EPL... *shrug* it's just that I'm a bit continental :)

Sorry I was talking about the 4-4-2 formation only. Your right, there are lots of options your right, if we use different formations. :)

At the moment it's Gerrard and Sissoko (if he wasn't injured) as Alonso isn't on form at the moment. Also Zenden is out the picture, he's simply not good enough. But Alonso and Sissoko need to fight it out for the position in the centre at the moment I would chose Sissoko, even though I'm such a huge fan of Xabi. But at the moment he just can't cut the mustard the way Momo can.

Interesting that as an opposition manager Alan Curbishley felt that Gerrard was least dangerous when playing in the centre as part of a 2 because he doesn’t get as much licence to attack with the ball at his feet.

I think I have to agree with this, in a 4-4-2, especially Rafa style, the 2 central midfielders have a lot of positional restrictions on them and this doesn’t suit Gerrard. I like when he plays from the right and gets the freedom to roam and attack from any angle, and then Finnan pushes up into midfield to give an option on the right.

Allowing Gerrard to roam and releasing the shackles of positional responsibility allows us to get the best out of him.

I agree that gerrard can get forward more on the right in a traditional 442 beacuse of the restrictions on the 2 centre mids.  But with "mo mo sissoko, mo mo sissoko" playin behind, he can go as forward as he wants because with every week more confidence goes to momo to win the ball.  So when we play the medioka prem teams with a weak mid, play pennant over on the right and gerrard and sissoko in the middle.

We saw him guys
we finally saw the old Stevie G that we saw when we won the champions league in 2005
in the mid, he must more effective, he run's, he has perfect through balls and the perfect mentality
Gerrard, I cant describe how im feeling right now
Its like, im really proud of him
He's showing the world that he's still the spark we need, the oxygen for the team, the ball of the game, without him we can not play like Liverpool
I really dont know what to say about him
