I was discussing with a pal the true mark of a striker is the one who scores the FIRST GOAL - makes the breakthrough. People like Morientes were great at getting the second or third, but I'd put my money on Robbie or Rushie being the first goal strikers and thats what made them special.

Juz my pennies worth.....

Good point, mate...

Look how many of Robbie's goals this campaign were the opening goal (at least 5 if memory serves: Fulham, Bolton, Blackburn, West Brom and Portsmouth) and you'll see how vital he was to the side.  In fact, many of his were also the winning goals!

If he can maintain that kind of form next season he might yet be considered amongst Rafa's shrewdest signings!  :buttrock
