Liverpool poverty and players?

Hi all.

Does anyone have any articles on players who grew up in Liverpool and then went on to play for Liverpool?  I'm wondering in particular about the players' relationship to the poverty in Liverpool and their new financial success.  Anyone know of any articles, or sources to look to?  Also particularly interested in Gerrard, Warnock, and Carragher.

Thanks a lot.

How do you define poverty?Having been born and bred in Liverpool,a City with problems like any other City Iam suspicious of your motives.I wonder if you are perhaps a journalist, intending to blacken the names of our local heros with more sensationalism eg.LOCAL LADS FORGET THEIR ROOTS.Poverty is a terrible thing but is more rellavant to the streets of Calcutta than the streets of liverpool. Knock on any door in this City there will be a tv and a packet of ciggaretes, even the big issue vendors wear Lacoste trainees.

Forgive me if I have got you wrong, but I am sick to death of reading about people from Liverpool who come from tough estates, or poverty striken terrace streets. This is the World wide web, what sort of impression are people who dont know our brilliant City going to get.

Well Said! My Grandma and relatives lives on an estate in Huyton. It is a council estate but nearly everyone on the street are nice people and certainly cannot be described as 'poor'. So please, report on poverty issues that are true, like POVERTY IN AFRICA, not poverty in this fantastic city of Liverpool, because, it almost doesn't exist. Thank you.
