England world champions - Rugby world cup 2003

A close fought contest fittingly won by a drop goal from Wilkinson's right boot in the last minute of the 2nd period of extra time. The ref seemed to be helping the Ausies as much as possible with a rather one sided view of the scrums and looked somewhat disappointed to have to award a scrum to England at one stage late on. England played the best rugby and the worst rugby - their mistakes kept Australia in it but I think England deserved it overall.

Well done England!

Well done England!
You have done your country proud
Nice to see some success  coming to England and beating the Aussies for once!
Hopefully England football will follow suit in Euro 2004!

Well done England! To go all the way to Aussie land and beat the world champs on their own pitch is incredible. Great skill, passion, guts and determination. And a fantastic pride in the shirt they were wearing. Hope you were watching GH! (and the mercenaries!)

It was a splendid game, won by true athletes.I would love to see some footballers put that kind of energy into a match for that amount of time.
At least "goldenballs" won't win BBC's"PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR" even with the publicity machine on his side.
                           Jonny Wilkinson gets the vote.
