Wireless modem - Some help please

I want to get a wireless modem for my home PC. My computer is upstairs but the phonesocket is downstairs in the hallway.

At present I just run a lead up, but people keep tripping over it on the stairwell.

I want to get a wireless modem (broadband/DSL).

Can anyone suggest a basic wireless modem that'll do the trick?

I'll have a list for you before lunch time tomorrow.  Got a few of them in work and a few brochures lying about. :)

I would check e-bay out, they are always going for a song on there, or failing that get to the computer fairs all over the place. The one near me at Aintree Racecourse is great for the old bargains.

Thanks lads: John, if you can post that later it will be great.

I had one of those DSL splitter things but people in the house have tripped over it twice and broke it. I don't mind shelling out a hundred smackers for a wireless one.

Just buy a wireless router, their peanuts these days and come bundles with pci and pcmcia wireless cards for your desktop/laptop for about £80, I use wireless with my mac & xbox at home as my phoneline is downstairs too and it's great.

Got a wireless router yesterday (£80 at Dixons - it's made by "D-Link" whoever they are ??? ) but it's great, broadband on the bog is finally a reality  Fairly easy to install as well, so if I can do it anyone can

Also BT told me today that their intention to double everybody's connection speed has been improved so they're now gonna QUADRUPLE my connection to 2meg for no extra cost!! Proper bo!

Yes, proper bo indeed!

I haven't had a chance yet to take a look at a wireless modem. I don't envisage using the internet on the bog like Wolly  but I reckon it'll come in handy none the less.
