funny thing is mate, that when i sent my pics off to be looked to see what they where i was asked i if i wished the media to be called as they like this sort of stuff.......by the time i got that email i had killed most of them lol.

just been out painting the fence in the back garden and found 4 more on the buggers.

(meant to be making a course to teach in the morning but painting a fence in strong wind seemed a better idea than sitting in front of a pc wit a blank word doc in front of me and trying to do some real work lol)

wow,cant believe there is spiders like that in the uk.have never seen one here in ireland,thank fook as the missus would have me tortured.
now earwigs we have.
they are most likely nesting under the timber fence you have there lakes.in the gaps on the slats and under the bottom slat resting on the concrete base.
i must have come across hundreds of thousands of em when i painted my fence over the summer and i found creosote mixed with waste engine oil does the trick.just slap it on and watch the buggers scarper.
that was 3 months ago when i did this and just checked and they haven,t come back.
as for the spiders just keep walloping them with the sledge

i was about to move the stag to the garden, i took a trip up the shop, i was only gone 10 mins and the spider had come down and killed it.
i feel bad as british stag beetle is a protected species.....try telling the spiders that lol

At this point Lakes, I'd say give up on the sledge hammer approach and go for some sort of machine gun. We know Bav was able to find a baton for his combat needs. Maybe he can lead you in the right direction for a suitable weapon.

well in a strange turn of event i had to go out (ended up taking my daughter to hospital as she fell off her bike) i spoke to a doctor and we was talking about spiders and the stag beetle (dont ask how we ended up talking about them) , i was told i must not use any spray to kill the spiders as it might kill any stag beetles and as they are a protected species it could cost me 2k if i kill any ...oops who going to pass that bill to the spiders.

might just say the gnomes did it .

Did you ever find out from the museum what species they are ie are they deadly? Even still there must be away of getting rid of them. I suppose it's just as well the weather has been Sh*t, no reason to step outdoors anyway.

I spoke to him on the phone after this he he said i should get shot of them and not let children play near that part of the garden.

i have now sent him photo or the spider killing the stagg.
