moving on from religion, politics! Oh joy!! :D

right people my votes due tomorrow so just thought I'd get a bit of discussion going on the matter

so, what you voting and why?

I'm voting against it. Personally, I think it'll make things more confusing and offer power to parties by virtue of second place i.e. the Lib Dems will always be everyone's second choice.

Just had an election here in Canada and the Conservatives won.  Surprise, surprise...those that didn't want them in power are whining that 60% of the voters didn't want the Cons and are saying it's time to replace first past the post with some form of proportional representation.  Interestingly, a decade ago it was the Conservative supporters whinging about the same issue.  My guess is it'll never happen over here because every party in power is pleased as punch with the system that got them there and are not about to get the ball rolling on electoral reform. :D

Democracy: Two wolves and a lamb discussing the lunch menu

Freedom: A well armed Lamb disputing the vote

I have found no matter what system you use. Youstill end up losing as  you always end up with a politictian in power

Being Canada we've got a few to choose from...

Way far left are the Greens, tucking in to their right but moving rapidly toward the centre are the New Democrats and just to the left of centre are the Liberals.  If you live in Quebec you can also vote for the Bloc Quebecois, who are separatists with somewhat socialist leanings.

This time around I voted NDP because the Greens are not a viable option, the Liberals are bloated and out of touch and, of course, because the Conservatives are all dictatorial religious whack-jobs who perpetuate the politics of fear and bbq babies for breakfast. :D

Yes, indeed--the Dippers as they are affectionately known. :nod

Canada's official opposition for the next 4 years (and then a likely return to relative obscurity after the Liberals rebuild).
